Sleek 6 there city.  Definitly better over the sedan / wagon IMO.

Couple questions, do you have snow tires for either of the 'cruisers' and are they on yet?  And have you ever gotten a speeding ticket?  Ever been pulled over?

Well I guess if you were to have made an error regarding Ovr Roll Eyes Cheesy Huh by accidentaly referring to me instead of him I would not be so rude about it but to me its just goes to show what some Exec's think of the Union staff who worked under them. Union or not I would imagine his view to be the same of all the underlings who have had the misfortune of working for him.  Sad Wouldn't bother me as I realize folks are only human and can make honest mistakes. I would think the Crown Vics would be somewhat faster then the Mazda for the daily ride and certainly more suitable for the job intended as well. The Mazda does look nice in that colour and am glad its working out well for you.  Smiley

Thanks all for the kind remarks.

I still like the looks of the wagon. I think the butt view is awesome (I was behind one in a drive-thru the other day....A Tim Hortons, I know, hard to believe).

We don't have snow tires for our cruisers. We run the Goodyear Eagles all year round. The Impalas are pretty decent in the snow but I have gotten a Vic stuck more than once. If it's a bad storm we park on a main street and walk in to the side streets.

I've had one speeding ticket in my life. That was when I was in my teens. Since I started this job I've been pulled over twice for speeding (both times in the Blazer) but knew the cop so I was lucky. I haven't been caught speeding in the 6 yet and I hope I never do because it'll be a doozy. But NEVER in a residential area. I have also had two other tickets, both for stupid accidents I was in.

Nice set of wheels CP.....which one's faster?

I think the 6 is fastest out of all of them. It's definitely faster than the Impala and handles soooooooooooooo much better than that understeering slug. The Vic is fun to drive being RWD and all but I don't think it's as quick as the 6 either. You have to remember that they are loaded down with a bunch of equipment too.

I'll take you for a ride in the white one anytime you want Snowy, but there's not much room in the back! And watch out for the black dog..... ROFL

Barrie - how you could take offense from what I posted about C-p's error is beyond me; you are one seriously paranoid fellow. I simply stated that, given our past history on here, it is funny and unusual that he would confuse me with you. What in hell is offensive about that.

Have you considered therepy for your paranoia? Rude I was, was I?  You poor sensitive fellow.

Relax, get some sleep, you'll be more cheerful in the morning. Sad and twisted.

They had one in for testing for a couple of days about two months ago. The guy who drove it said it was sluggish off the line but was comparable to the Impala once it was rolling (  Roll Eyes ). If we get them, we'll get jammed with the 6 cylinder again....So that stolen Dodge Neons can still out run us (true story)... Angry

Nice, CP.  The dark grey was my second choice of colour when I got mine (mine is Gold Ash metallic).

I love the Sport Wagons as well. The 5-dr Sport looks great (who would buy the sedan?), but for versatility the wagon can't be beat - although the 5-dr does a commendable job. Both look great, and the spoiler on both are well designed.

The '06MY looks even more aggressive up front with the addition of bumper fogs and a nice package overall still - finally available with HIDs as well too. I'm awaiting my first sight of a Bright Island Punch 5-dr, while I'm sad to see white vanish (only avail on sedans). Also, the grey is different now.

(who would buy the sedan?)
Well, I would, for one.    Angry

I found the hatch to be extremely heavy, too heavy for my wife, as a matter of fact.  Also, when a hatchback car has the same silhouette as a sedan, what do you gain by having the hatch?  The rear seats fold down in the sedan, so you all you lose is maybe three or four inches of passthough height.  I don't see a big advantage in there.

Actually the silhouette is a little different. The rear glass extends futher towards the rear spoiler leaving less of a trunk lid. Plus with the hatch you can take out the parcel tray and throw in things that won't fit through the opening when only the seats go down.

But the sedan is probably quieter....'specially in the winter when the rattles come out.

I actually never thought about the weight of the hatch in the winter when the struts freeze. Or reaching up to close it if you're shorter. I just always think that unless you're stretching to afford a base Mazda6, should skip over the sedan. But you make good points.

As for the hatch room, the rear window stretches further rearward, plus there's no parcel shelf (like CP says), PLUS the opening is so wide you can fit a TV in there if you wanted, even if you had the hatch slightly ajar.

CP:  When you quote your mileage numbers are you saying them in Cdn or USA mpg?

I just did a run up to Tobermory from TO and returned 8.13 L/100 over the 626km drive.  That is 34.75 Cdn or 28.93 USA mpg.  It includeded everything from rush hour traffic getting out of the city, a 4km stop and go (ramp to 401 from 410 was closed) on the way home, cruise set at 100kph on backroads (good thing to) and the odd run up to 150kph for fun.

You must have a heavy foot but I can understand with how much fun this car is to drive.  Cool

How is it possible that after electricity has traveled through hundreds of miles of power line then hundreds of feet (or yards) of romex in our home, that changing the last three feet of wire with something exotic, expensive (cool looking, and packaged in a pricey box) is going to make a difference?

My foot is a little heavy but not really all that bad. I just looked at my handy-dandy Excel worksheet I made up and it goes anywhere from 10.39 to 13.26 litres/100km. Using the same handy-dandy worksheet I converted the kilometres to miles and the litres to gallons and figured out my mpg. So....Is that American or Canadian mpg? I dunno... Huh

I guess you have more city driving per tank than I do.  I've done about one 3/4 tank of just city driving and it starts to rise (for the worse) quickly.  I really think this car was designed for highway driving best.
