Yeesh, you know your ride(s) are boring when people notice the parking job before the actual cars themselves  ::)

Beautifully maintained 240.  About the same time I bought the Aerio, I found a 1990 240 Wagon with 100 000km on it for $6000.00 - was tempted, but somehow the idea of owning a 15 year old car with a 90-day warranty has lost its appeal.  Maybe when I'm a little richer, I'll be a little braver...

Sounds funny Ken, not rich enough to buy a 15 year-old Volvo, so you bought a NEW car!  ;D But I really do understand.  ;) :o ;D

I'm none the richer nor braver...but I went that route of 15 year old car....maybe I'm just foolish.

Ah well today brought back some fond memories. Today I met up with a colleague of mine and he showed me his vast fleet of cars. He has a 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300TD wagon, a 1990 Lexus LS, a 1994 Saab 9000 turbo, and a 1984 Volvo 240. That 240 brought back some good memories for me. I loved that car until an accident took it away from me years ago. His 240 was even the same colour as mine was and was built at the same plant that used to be here in Halifax. Boy, that car was a solid solid car. Handling and power was not this cars high points, but there was just something about it that made you wanna drive it anyway.

Now I wanna try to find an old 240 turbo. That's right, the coupe!

I didn't have my camera with me, so I couldn't post actual pics, but his 240 and MY old 240 looked a lot like the pics below. I compared them to the 240 I have now, and boy, Volvo didn't really mess with this design too much. They it looks almost identical to my '91.

Ah the old shoebox tanks.  My uncle had an old 244DL a while back.  It was orange (red originally) with some sheepskin covers for the seats.  Like you said, power and handling was not in the cards for this beast, but the thing ran forever and kept on ticking.  It was a great car and after 20 years of ownership, it still had no rust.
