If life were made too easy, you would feel bored.  ;)

If I can't handle the customers properly, I ask the manager to help me.
Most of the time he does.

From my point of veiw, the major duties of a sales consultant is to qualify the customer, present the product, do demo test drives, show the customer MSRP of cash/finance/lease and present an offer to the manager.

Not to get their credit card and make them buy today!  >:(
Personally, I hate walking back and forth to the sales office.
That's why I'm happier at the place where I work now, compared to where I was before.

I would love to work at exotic car dealers, like Aston, Lambo and Ferrari.
The MSRP is the final price, no negotiations involved, no free floor mats.
But I'm 26, and have no connections to the rich and famous, so don't think any of those dealers would hire me.

I let the customer go.
Slap myself, and think of what could have been done better.
Try to get them back, and buy a car!

Sometimes it works.

Don't slap yourself too much.

Sometimes its the manager who needs the slap. I know I lost more than one sale (and thus a paycheck) becuse the manager overplayed his hand trying to squeeze an extra $100 outta someone, steal their trade for far less than it was worth or being to busy to do an appraisal.

No harm in asking for any price.  Yes or no would be the answer.

Yes, I used to sell cars a long time ago and I can sympathize with the sales people who are trying to make a living
and do the right thing (e.g.  repeat business vs. a  huge gross).  Many stories (mostly bad), and I'll never forget
a $150 commission on a $50,000 Lincoln.

I don't have any sympathy for the dealerships, as you might imagine. ;D

A look at any new GTA dealership tells you there is a bunch of money going through that place, so nobody should be
crying poor there.  Hell, even Subaru dealers are looking a little extravagant!

Do your homework before you buy!  Then tell yourself it's OK for someone to make a living from your purchase.
You'll discover common ground and an acceptable deal.

For SURE!  I will walk on any purchase where I have to argue with the finance guy or sales manager that is trying to sell me rust proofing after I already declined it.
