Nissan Sentra SER Spec V 2003
« on: October 20, 2005, 05:53:11 pm »
I generally love my car. ;D

What I have found irritating;
  • the driver side window motor really doesn't like operating in -30 or lower temperatures. (ok, neither do I - I can sympathize)
  • the winter wheels once rusted to the hubs. It was a huge operation to remove the wheels. (lots of white grease was used next time. ::))
  • the seat belt likes to choke me. (Ok, all seat belts like this. :'( I'd love to get my hands on the car designers, and explain that short legs + bust = seat belt strangulation. And this is a safety feature?  ???)

It's a quick little econo sedan that unfortunately now needs some dental work to remove a big buck-tooth grille.

But dare I call it a sleeper? cool

;D The dental work only started in the 2004 model. I was fortunate to get in before that unfortunate design choice.

I do like that it looks exactly like the base model sentra, but takes some work not to spin the tires at lights. ;D

It's ok. I calculate 1L per 100km, but that's really conservative. My calculation just ensures I fill up before running out of gas. Between no gas stations on 1/2 my commute, and traffic parking lot on the other, I'm a little paranoid.

I have done 400km on a tank, and have about 3L-5L left. It took me 3 years before I would dip below the 1/4 tank level.

I've added a link to my car. ;D

Hey, I haven't finished my coffee yet! :P - Yes, 10 per 100km. I can only dream about the other.

The red interior is with the black 2002 model.

It's rather funny here. At Solo 2 it is quite possible to have 4 black Spec V, each a different year. Makes for easy comparisons.  ;D

How else am I going to learn how to really drive? ;)

Ok, I've done some of the advanced schools and lapping, but there's still so much more. I know people who don't flinch about tank-slappers down the back straight, and think cars should normally drive sideways. They're nuts, but also my inspiration. ;)

The red interior is with the black 2002 model.

Actually ALL 2002 SpecVs had the red interior.  I used to own an Aztec Red one with the red interior.

It was a blast to drive. I now have an X-trail which shares the same QR25de engine.  They make some serious torque.
Strange thing is, the SpecV "requires" premium fuel.  The X-trail with the same engine requires regular fuel.
I know the SpecV had 10 more hp due to the less restrictive exhaust, but I always wonder why it needed the premium fuel.  I think the SE-R (non specV 165hp version) required premium fuel as well.
