ktm525, from what I understand is it can still transfer power to the rear at higher speeds but you can't lock it. That's what I took from the driving television review. But they / I could be wrong.

So the big question is: Will it do powerslides?
An unlocked transfer is ok at speed, I like the AWD system in my Dakota which stays unloicked in AWD mode. To kick the rear out in the snow one has to really commit and floor the accelerator, this diverts most if not all power to the rear tires (typically the end with less traction in a pickup). After the rear kicks out the driver lets up on the gas a little and the fronts begin to dig again. Great fun. Sort of like driving a RWD in the winter except all this happens at higher speeds.
