The Honda Ridgeline is like a Japanese version of the Ford Explorer Sport Trac ... it's not very BIG, some call it a "truck" and it looks more like a convertible jeep then a truck with a crew cab. Also, the Ridgeline shares it's platform with the Pilot ... which is based on a minivan (Odyssey) platform. It has a unibody which makes for a tight ride but it also make the Ridgeline a one trick pony.
In the truck game, you have to be versatile. Some people want a 4' box ... others 6 or even 8. Also, you have the dual, flareside and many commercial options. It's obvious that Honda only wants a small share of the truck market for now ... they're are targeting folks who don't often need a truck ... like someone in the city who's going to the cottage once in a while and want to tow their boat or something. It's a great urban "truck" for what it's meant to do!
When I took a look at the Ridgeline I noticed the "storage bin" in the box ... or the 2'X3' hole in the box right next to the spare tire. They say you can put dirt or gravel in there ... try getting it out and you'll see the problem.
