can you still feel the "shift" on slushbox or is it done smoothly even if you floor it? By the way do you think the yaris handles better than say... a 7 gen civic coupe/sedan? I remember going head to head with a yaris and I had a 5spd version. I try to drive my car smooth so I don't floor it and get a shock shift like most drivers like to do. But the yaris did it effortlestly and beat me to 60km/h way before i shifted into 3rd gear! Now I know the Yaris has a lot of pep even just for stop and go traffic.
Oh ya as for the gated shifter, can you abuse it a lot and not worry about hurting the slushbox? When I mean abuse I mean like using 3rd gear to slow down on stops or lane changing or beating a yellow light. Hmm I like the car a lot but I do a lot of city driving and I want good city mileage, right now I can average 6.5L/100km with my 5spd civic that has 40,000km and hoping if I make the switch I can improve upon that number. (I'm a very casual driver but loves to rev match so I can get engine friction braking.) But worried my switch from manual to slushbox will hurt numbers as well as performance/control.
Although the new Yaris sedan looks really nice, and out of all the cars (fit, versa) I still believe the yaris is the most refined and reliable. The fit while good, I can't get over its higher coefficent of drag (yaris .29 fit .3x), its higher curb weight (yaris 2300+, fit 2400+), and higher turn radius. Oh as for enviromental benifits I think the yaris is SULEV while the honda is only LEV

And on a personal standpoint the Yaris sedan (sport) looks better than the fit sport. Although I'm sure the fit sport has those nice paddle shifters but... I think the fuel efficency is more important.
