This is my 2nd season running Viking Snowtechs on my '03 Accord V6.  They are great winter tires for the price.  From what I understand, these tires are better suited for urban areas, as they are not a true deep snow winter tire.  The salesman at my local tire shop has these on his Golf.
The Vikings handle very well on dry roads, brake well, and are not mushy like other cheap winter tires.
Do not hesitate: buy these tires !!  Why pay those high prices for the big brands ??

27 views and no reply?  No one has any suggestions?

Yeah, just get another set of Hakkas. I have the Hakka 2s...the rest of the traffic was in my rear view mirror yesterday.

I have had them on my Mazda 6 for over a week and I am satisfied, like I was with the Hankook w300 Ice bear on the Mazda Millenia. On dry pavements, the Snowtech is a very quiet tire and I did not feel I was driving with winters on. The handling was very good too. Over the past few days we have had some snow in Ottawa and like the W300 I did not find it dug thru the snow that well on pick up. The traction subsequently on both snow and ice as well as slush has been admirable. I paid 105.00 per tire (for 205/60R16) including balancing and mounting on 16" rims (Mazda OEM at 65.00 a rim). Cost of the whole package inc. taxes was $782.00. Excellent value for money. Will recommend it.

Seems like the Vikings are all but sold out in Toronto.  Any other recommendations?  I have a Mazda 3 GT and would really like to keep it below $900 (all in)

You can call Gyro Mazda (Laird and Eglinton) and get the Perilli Winter Carvings for $795 + tax (for wheels and rims). I have them on my Mazda5.

I'm running Viking Snowtech on my Mazda 6 in a 205/60r16 and so far so good.  I don't think that they are as good as my wife's Alpins on her tribute but for the money they could not be beat and consumer reports rated them # 2 for moderate winter conditions which I think the GTA qualifies for.  I picked mine up 3 weeks ago for the price of $425.00 everything in and install and balanced.

I did not take any pics, but let me see if I have time since it is a long weekend. Can't promise though, between 2 jobs and 1- 21month old, lawn and my patio awnings waiting for installlation.

Cheers

for what it is worth, ADAC (German Auto Club) recently tested "inexpensive" ("Billig") winter tires. The test page is at: http://www.adac.de/Tests/Reifentests/Winterreifen/default.asp

They found the WinterForce to be good for winter use. But it tested poorly in wet road breaking, and not very well in noise and wear.

I am thinking of have these tires for Wiffy’s Impreza. The X-Ice are not rated as high for braking with ABS sand the Viking Snow Tech’s are. Any experiences.

Actually There are few dealers still have it. SkyWheel in Markham still has it. I got a set of brand new OEM HONDA 16 inch  with 205/55/16H Tires for $770 including balance. And i got another quote from Wheels Direct in Scarborought for Universial 15 inch with 195/65/15 Tires for $540 and $740 for 205/55/16H But it is not oem rims.  so i want to spend the $30 extra for oem rim.

Hope this help

:)Hey I've used these tires. I will not use anything else. They come from Norway and I do believe they would have some fairly decent winters there! They outperform the Blizzaks I have on my wifes AWD Matrix.
I have these Vikings on my Passat and they are a force to be reckoned with. I feel as though I have four wheel drive. AWESOME! For $80 some dollars a piece, I'll bet there isn't a better deal. I wont say bang for the buck, because in this case, we DON'T want that now do we? ::)
