Buying Mazda6 Sport GT-I4
« on: September 28, 2005, 11:58:35 am »
Long time lurker, first time poster here  :)

After a couple of months of thinking I've decided to get a Mazda6 hatch over the Mazda3 hatch. What would be a good price for a '05 Mazda6 Sport GT-I4 w/ manual tranny in the GTA area considering the '06s are due any minute. Would $32k OTR be doable, I will be paying cash. Are there any GTA dealerships on this board who can give me a quote?

Thanks for the input.

Considering my local dealer still has some '04 new Mazda6's, and the '06MY vehicles are already at dealerships (and looking better than I thought they would), I'd imagine there's some good deals to be had.

Even more so since dealers have been stung by the fuel costs (Civic and Corolla are rated higher than Mazda3) and the fiasco and stop-sale of the new Mazda5's. Mazda's ads are focused on the 6's right now and there has to be some big incentives.

Previously I read on here GT-4's with GFX pkg (is it standard? Probably so on GT's) are harder to come by with manual transmission tho.

I was at Whitby Mazda, but even if you open the Toronto Sun you'll see ads for new '04's. I think dealers have tried hard to rid themselves of these the last 2-3 months because some will have new '04s at the same time as '06's! I didn't see the '06's at Whitby but drove by Avante in North Toronto and saw they had them, and have seen a few car carriers with the new ones as well.

But the '04s may be more GS's than GT's. I'm not in the market for a Mazda6, but did note that and was very surprised a few weeks ago to see that.

What's wrong with the 04 Mazda6 ... why are they still available?  Basically the same car than a 2006?

Keep in mind, however, that the 04's model year did not include the Sport (5-door) version.  I believe that the Sport and Wagon only came in 05.  BTW, I drove a Sport I-4 5-Speed and, IMO, it's the best looking 4-door car available for under 30K, nice ride too!!!

You could get the sport and wagons in '04 but not in '03.  I passed on some 04 wagons and ended up with the 05 as they couldn't find me any with the packages that I wanted.

Which could be the reason there are still a few 04 lefts on the lot.  Maybe they could be base (stripper) models and people want their options/toys.

A subwoofer should only be noticed once it has been turned off.

Even if a 2004 was 4000$ less than a 2005/2006 I wouldn't get it. I have a 2004 and my friend at work have a 2005. His car have more KMs to it than me already. His car feels way more solid than mine. Have have rattles in the dash, in the doors... well nearly everywhere and he don't.....

I do think that they fix lots of problems with the latest release.
