2004 Buick Rendevouz
« on: September 21, 2005, 01:15:40 am »
Hi - I'm new here.  I took a 2004 Buick Rendevouz CX for a test drive today.  Has anyone out there had good or bad experiences with this vehicle.  My wife and I liked the ride but don't know much about the vehicle other than it was traded in to a GM dealer as a "rental" with 15,000 KMS on it.  They are asking $24,600 for it with $12,000 down.  Is that a good deal?  We've been looking at vehicles for days now and think this one is good but we don't really know.

Thoughts anyone ?

Assuming this is a non 4wd and does not have leather or sunroof I'd say you are paying top retail because it will have had some rough treatment as a rental.  If there is no real proof of at least 2 oil changes do not buy it.  If it has a towing package and if there is evidence of it having a ball hitch on it previously and the wiring harness connector looks used ABSOLUTELY do not by it.

$22,000 would be tops.

Others can comment about the vehicle itself.

$24,600 with a $12,000 down payment makes it a $36,600 pricetag...?  IF that is what the deal is, a new one starts at $33K before the discounts.  Or am I reading it wrong and the price is $24,600?

In the grand scheme of things, I don't know what options are included on this used one but with the deals you might be able to swing on any remaining 2005 models left on the lots, this doesn't seem to be a screaming deal for an ex-rental.

Buy a Rendezvous and you too can get that oh so chic "Desperate Housewife" image...

If as responded, you're paying the price + down payment, I wouldn't go for that 'deal'. Might as well buy a new one!

Daily rentals are usually abused more than your typical demo or privately owned used vehicle. Just not worth it for the loss of warranty and unknown factor alone.

Buick builds a very nice car and has been around for almost a 100 years or so. A rental is treated differently then a privately owned car for the reasons stated above. I would check for the things that the other posters have said and make an offer of $22,000 at the most for this car. That will leave you with a much nicer balance left oweing as the car will last you for many years with the right maintenance. You will have balance of warranty on this car which is very good to have. When you say rental car do you mean a leased vehicle to one person or to a different driver every day? If only to one person then that will probably be a better car then the one driven by the many. Not all renters abuse the vehicles but some do.  :)

Don't buy it

They are just so many better choice out there than abused Buick - rental cars are thrashed they are never loved - the fact is at $26,500 you could buy something new so why buy used ex-rental - makes no sense to me - you can get a new - you could even get brand new X-trail for that - with a bit work or even a really nice used CRV or Rav 4 - rendervouz doesn't score well either on consumer websites

Welcome to the forum, Kona.  I'll echo the others in stating that you should look at a new Rendezvous.

I would stay away as far as possible from a rental, given it has more abuse than used cars and demos.
