Civic 05 LX-G (st) VS. Corolla 06 CE + SE package (st) ?
« on: September 20, 2005, 01:25:17 pm »
Ok.. the thing is my GF and I are planning to get a new car.. she bought this horrible, rusty GEO METRO 93  5 years ago and ... I am not panicking    :surrend: ... but the odometer reads 248.986 km already and I feel the car it's about to fall apart in the middle of the highway..lol
Anyway I managed to convince her in getting a new car... ;D

At the beggining we wondered about a Hyundai GL - 2001 - 2002 but we are not quite sure that it will last for too many winters ( we're expecting to have a car it for at least 4 years) so we upgraded our budget to and are looking for some  Japanese  engine. so far we think the most reliable, retaining value and fuel efficient ... so does anybody and your expertise would guide us throughout the desicion of getting a Civic 05 LX-G (standar)  or a Corolla 06 CE + SE package (standar) ??

I took the jetta out since we decided to lease a new car, and also should we also wait for the civic 2006 to come out in the market? I guess that would be in about a month or so.. thanks !!

Civic or Corolla -- my choice is Corolla. I do not know about new Civic 06, but it looks much better than previous models. I have Corolla 2003 and don't have any complaint, car is great for this category. I drove both cars and Corolla was  much, much better than Civic ( comfortable ride, more HP ( 130 against 115 )....) Again, maybe it's not bad idea to wait 'till October and see what Honda did to compete with Corolla.

Good luck.

Between your 2 choices I would also take the 06 Corolla CE plus SE package over the 05 Civic.

The o6 Civic appears to be much superior than the 05, but it will cost you more than the 06 Corolla.

yes, I saw and read the many postings on the  new forum for the civic 06.. so I guess We'll wait a week more to test drive it and figure out if it's worth it to wait and lease a demo civic !!

how would you lease a demo Civic when they are only arriving in October? It will be months before one of them is miled up to the point where it would be available as a demo for sale (or lease)

Keep in mind that leasing demonstrators is never a great idea, the miles already on the car are deducted from the miles you are allowed on your lease...

I've never liked the Corolla as much as the Honda....but the 05 Civic is getting on in years.  If you can find a Civic on the lot, you might be able to swing a good deal for them....

Both are fantastic cars that hold value and are very well built.....can you really lose between the two?

To the fellow that said you can't lease a demo...that is not right.  I know with Toyota, your lease would start at the point the odometer is at when you pick up the car.  How can they penalize you for km's you didn't put on the car?

I dont' know about Honda, but with Toyota, you can lease a Demo.
