Winter blades are not a matter of choice based on the vehicle you drive, but the location you choose to live in.

Here in Montreal, not having winter blades on means you will be warming up your car for an hour, just to melt the ice build-up in the wiper. The spring loading has to be there for the wiper to maintain contact with the window, and the covered wiper is the only way that I have been able to do this.
I realize that at speed it loses its usefullness, but most of our winter driving here ends up at under 100kms.
Put on a new set every November, and throw them out in April. No need to spend a fortune since they only have to last a few months, but I would pay the couple of extra $'s to avoid the CT stuff.
