2006 Lexus IS250 on 401?

I just came in from fighting the 401 traffic in Toronto. On my way home from work I seen two 2006 Lexus IS250. The license plates were a California plate but it did not look like the regular license plate for California.  Was some special type. Was the cars I seen on some special test drive?

I thought these cars were being released in October 2006?

I know from when the original IS was launched when I worked at Lexus Division that we had the cars months before release. We had to do photo shoots, TV commercial production, dealer and tech training, etc.

By this time most of the promotion/ad stuff is done, and they're probably just evaluating the product. Journalist vehicles are probably not far off either.

Lexus Canada is just off the 401 at Markham, so I would assume that's where the cars were from.

October is just around the corner  ;)
