MOTHERFUC... Damn.  Where'd all the fun go???   :D  You'd better never go on vacation, James.  See what happens when you're away for a few hours?

By the way, I think front brake lights would be as useful as rear headlights.  Whatever happened to common sense?

Common sense appears to have disappeared along with the ability to differentiate between a flashing turn signal and a solid brake light, and apparently thus you are allowed to rear end someone because you aren't actually paying attention.

Now don't get me wrong; I'm not holier than thou.  I've had "panic" stops because I wasn't paying attention, too.  But it doesn't matter what colour the stupid lights are, if you're not watching them anyway.

Remember the story of the three friends, one worked at a soda pop plant, one at a winery, one at a clothing store.  They were a Coke stocker, a  Corksoaker, and a  Socktucker.

Those would typically be called back-up or reverse lights. Every car already has them.  :P

And yes, yes, we all would like everyone to pay attention. We'd all like everyone to be a better driver. We'd all like everyone to use common sense. Of course, platitudes don't prevent collisions. Maybe someday.

Common sense is misnamed as it's not very common.  We should say "common stupidity" or something akin...

Of course, the issue isn't whether or not someone can tell the difference between a flashing and a solid light, it's how soon they can tell the difference, and you can spot the turn signal a little earlier if it's a different colour. A little more of a margin of safety isn't a bad thing when someone's approaching you from behind. But I suppose this particular concern is of interest only to the minority who actually use their turn signals at all.

Alertness and common sense is my pick above more flashing lights and other "safety features" designed to allow drivers to use LESS of their brains while driving.  I've a theory that says the more safety devices available, the less attention is paid to events that those safety devices are designed to protect against.

I think every driver should be made to ride a motorcycle for a year... those that survive get their car licenses back... those that don't... well they won't be turning infront of us will they?  :o

Reminds me of the cunning linguist who preformed cunning stunts.

Know the difference between a magician's act and a chorus line?

The magician's act is a cunning display of stunts.
