My mom's boyfriend is interested in purchasing a regular cab, short box just like this. Not sure he likes the wing tho.

Personally I  at the idea of something so unnecessary, and a reg cab short box is kind of useless nowadays. Heck I'd be embarrassed to even be seen in the thing.  :hide: But hey, it's not my truck, I already said that to them, and he's dead-set on getting one of those HEMI Rams with polished 20's.

The all-new Ram should be out shortly though. Probably worth the wait for the ride, handling, and interior trim.

Short box pickups make me laugh.  So useless... a person spends a bundle of money and can't even haul a regular 4x8 sheet of plywood?  What's the point?

I'd imagine a lot of buyers will raise or lower it, further reducing its hauling or towing capacity.

LOL, to each his own! I love hauling air, really quickly, in my own lowered, custom truck. :)

Ovr50  - the 4x4 hemi trucks are surprisingly good in snow, as long as they're equipped with good tires.
I had a regular version of the big dude (no wing, no bling) a couple of winters ago - took it up one of the steepest hills in the area (people usually park and walk up). No problem!

If I can't drive 'em... I'll draw 'em!

Lesley - welcome to the looney bin !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, good snows on all 4 wheels would be a requirement. Actually it would be a lot of fun in the snow given an open space to boot it and wheel it about.  ;)

Is the pix your truck?

Both this and the Rumble Bee edition are just over-priced caricatures. They look great on first impression but they really have very little going for them. The "ground effects" package makes a Corolla S look good. The big tires as well as the engine can be had on a run-of-the-mill Dodge truck so nothing special there. The pricing is outrageous and they depreciate immediately to the value of a regular truck. But I guess if someone really likes the paint ...

The Province newspaper had a review of the SRT-10 truck Friday, too...  left me wondering the same thing.  What's the point of an overpowered pickup truck?  If you want speed, buy the Viper.

Though I admit, a "pimped out" pickup truck can be cool to see, I wouldn't pay money for a Daytona or SRT-10 Dodge.  I would consider modifying a Ford Ranger or something cheap on visual appeal, but for the kind of money the Daytona asks for I'd be looking at a real vehicle.

That said, my dad has a new Dodge Dakota 4x4 quad cab with a short box, and yes, I wondered the same thing: the last truck with an extended cab Dakota with a long box - great for hauling all sorts of stuff.

What about someone that DOESN'T NEED to haul 4x8 sheets of plywood? What about someone that needs to haul a 30+ feet Fifth-Wheel or travel trailer? Or maybe he needs to tow landscaping equipment... just because it doesn't suit YOUR needs doesn't mean it doesn't suit SOMEBODY's needs!

That said, a wing on a truck is just stupid.

If by "stupid", you mean "non-functional"; show me one wing on any vehicle that is not stupid (excluding pure race vehicles of course - talking streetable stuff here).  :)

The Audi TT has a necessary wing because of the design of the vehicle that made it unstable at high speeds...

There is no reason for such a wing on a truck though... no reason at all.

Yes....the wing on the Audi TT was to rectify a design flaw in the vehicle's aerodynamics.  Nice.

Hey you could say that about every Porsche on the market too... they too have little wings that come out when you go faster than 120kph or something like that.

It doesn't take rocket science to understand that once a vehicle goes faster than X kph, it'll want to take off because of too much air that slips under it... hence the wings to pull the car down to the pavement.

Actually, that sounds pretty similar to rocket science.  :)
