Acura TL vs Caddie Cts
« on: September 11, 2005, 04:45:20 am »
hi all...a close family friend of mine is planing to get a new car...since they dont know much about cars..they asked me for help..expect me to do all the hassle and haggle ...sigh -_-
and it seems they like the acura TL and caddie CTS..
acura TL has 3.9% intrest rate which is pretty good
caddie cts cause of the employment discount thats affective till sept 30 ..but not sure about the intrest rate
anyways i was wondering if i can get like 1k-2k off with acura TL? and also should they wait for the 06 TL?
tho 06 intrest rate will higher..and will they be a big change with 05 and 06 TL?
and what do you guys think about the caddie CTS? with all the employment discount thats going on right now..
any thoughs would be appriaciate it
and also if there is any good deals(like intrest rate, discount thats not from GM,ford, chrysler) thats going on right now around the class range of acura TL 4door i would love to know..

Thank you in advance

The Acura TL is an all around excellent vehicle.  I cannot comment about CTS driving since I've never driven one.  There will be very minor chnages for 05 to 06 for the TL (a minor software change to reduce steering feel upon hard acceleration I believe).  I would stick with the 05 and try to save some coin now as the '06s come in.

CTS may be much cheaper now but that does correlate to a cheaper re-sale value.

Acura re-sale value is stellar.  I find it to be a very well built confident well sized sports sedan full of good technology.  Crash protection is amazing.  Only cons that come to mind include: no folding rear seats (centre pass through though), heavy gas consuption when driving hard (normal), and FWD torquesteer when pushing hard around lower speed corners (rare that you notice it).  My favourite feature is it's AMAZING headlight illumination.  It handles very well also thanks to good 'shoes' and a large stabilizer.

But you and your friend need to TEST DRIVE any/all cars you are interested in to really get a feel for what each car is like.

I've done a review on both of those cars on this forum.  They both different cars as the CTS is less sporty than the TL and a better ride in my opinion.  But the TL seems better put together for sure.

I do feel that acura cut come corners on the TL as evidence from some small bits, that they did better on the TSX.

Here are the reivews of the 2 cars:

Seems like your friend likes a good deal. Your friend is about spend 40+ thousand dollars on a car, I would suggest he look beyond a good deal. Just find a car he really likes and negotiate the best price on that instead. If your friend wants a good deal, go get a new Sonata, the best deal in my book.

In the $40,000 price range I would also suggest the new Toyota Avalon. It's not quite the drivers car compared to the TL and CTS but considering your friend "dont know much about cars", I would think the driving experience is lower on his list of priorities. That's not to say it drives horribly, just that it's more comfort oriented that's all.

$40k for a new car??

I wouldnt have doubts: a 2006 Dodge Charger SRT.

I would go for a 300C, but i think its above his price range.
