rustcheck for new mazda6i
« on: September 10, 2005, 10:34:55 am »
anyone have any experience with rustcheck as some say it may cause warranty problems if it gums up electrical or mechanical components. I live in nfld. and we have salt in the air and on the roads.

No it won't gum up anything.  Opposite really.  It is sold at Canadian Tire in spray cans so you can examine the stuff yourself.  However, if you have a Krown Rust Control dealer near you use them as Krown was born out of Rust Check who ran a pretty lousy operation including the product.

Ditto!

Dennis:

We tested Krown, Rust Check and one other and the Krown came out way on top.

Ask for the T40 which is honey coloured. It doesn't wash off as easily as the T32 (red). You can use the latter on interior panels, but use the T40 for the underside, unibody frame members and engine compartment. The underside of my car is still wet by the time October rolls around for reapplication (which I do myself).

If you are picky, a lot of holes that they drill can be avoided by applying the product through factory holes covered by rubber/plastic plugs. I don't have a single hole drilled in my Honda CR-V.
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A true driver's car does not have cup holders.

I've owned several Mazdas and honestly have never had any body rust issues. We even had a house on the Gaspe Penisula 40 feet from the St Lawrence for a few years with a 626. I had undercoating done by the local Mazda dealership as there was no Krown or equivalent there.

All depends on the amount of road salt used in one's area.  How old were those Mazdas.  Krown comes into play after year 10 on the body and immediately on parts like brake linings and fuel lines and under body electrical connections.  Most floor pans in cars today are plastic so undercoating ain't a biggie if it's intended purpose is just to save the floor.
