From mad to glad
« on: September 09, 2005, 04:21:21 pm »
I was leaving my house this morning when the automatic gate shuts on my Miata and bangs the right front fender.
The gate is painted black and my Miata is silver.I stopped just as it hit and there were two  black spots on the side of the fender about the size of two toonies and a 10 cm scratch on the bumper and a 5 cm scracth on the top of the fender.
After a few choice words directed at the gate I realized that there were no dents but I couldn't tell if the black was from the gate or it was primer.
I tried rubbing with cleaner that I had from Meguiers but it wouldn't do anything. After afew other trys including tar and bug remover, I went to the kitchen and found a sponge with a plastic type of scouring pad on the back.
I sprayed the marks with the tar and bug remover and gentley started rubbing with the scouring pad worrying that I'm either going to take the paint off or I'm going to leave swirl marks on the paint.
After about 15 minutes all the marks came off and the paint looks like new.I couldn't believe it.
So as a purely unscientific experiment if you have these type of marks maybe it will work for you.
But honey it isn't "just a car'"
