Even a Civic sedan is way too big for my needs/wants/desires. When will people in NA get it through their collective heads that a good small car is good and does not need to be made bigger?

Talk for yourself... not everyone is smaller than 6'...  ;)

I am just over 6' tall. When the picture of me in this thread was taken I was 6' 1.5":

Yes, the original Mini was a tight fit.  ;D

There's not necessarily a relationship between room for tall people and a car's size.  The current Echo has more headroom than the Ford Explorer.

Sure, headroom... but what about legroom? I need BOTH in a car...

Anyways, I only meant to say that to me, the Accord coupe makes much more sense than the Civic coupe... but that's just me.  :)

Well I guess that my extra 3" makes all the difference because I'm not comfortable in an Echo and the previous Civic was barely acceptable in terms of head room and leg room... I haven't tried the new Civic, so I can't comment on that. Even the headroom of the Accord sedan and coupe is at the limit of what I find acceptable for me...

Ah, thank you. Yes, it IS a matter of taste and PERSONAL comfort. You DO have a tendancy to post as though your taste is truth. I'm sure you do not intend to come across that way.  ;)

I wouldn't buy the Accord coupe - I think it looks quite bloated/rounded in the rear, although nowhere near as much as the Solara (which I like from the front).

I'd buy the new Civic Si over the Accord Coupe even with a V6. It's dang cool. Will handle better, probably feels more airy and modern, gets better mileage, and is more youthful.

I think a lot of younger people feel the same way. For the older crowd, might be thinking of going Accord, but the way I see it many of the mid-size cars are redundant as they are.
