I'm heading off to test drive one as soon as I'm able...  probably have to wait until summer next to buy one if I'm staying in town (and, of course, Clearance 2006).  But they sound EXCELLENT.

Will the GPS be optional?

There's pictures of it on www.honda.com website. I hope we can get it in Canada! If so I'll exchange my Mazda6i for a brand new 2006 Si fully loaded.

I'm also waiting patiently for the interest rate they will offer... If I can get a RX-8 for the same price as a fully loaded Si, I'm getting the RX-8...

Si fully loaded (GPS and 18 inches wheels included) should be in the 29000$ range. If Honda give 5.9% financing, that brings the car price to $33,558.

If Mazda give a financing of 1.9% for the RX-8 - 0.5% because it's my second Mazda and if I'm good enough to bargain it like a guy at work (33 000$) it would cost me $34,188.

Let's hope Honda will give good financing on both the sedan and coupe. That would kill the competition.

Doubt it, why not just buy a nice portable unit.  I move it from car to car.  Downloadable to the computer etc.  Better IMO.

GPS Nav only on the Si, as an option, IIRC.  Not sure if that'll be a Canadian option, or just a US one though.

Better be an available option here. The car is built in our country!!!

I don't want a portable unit, we used some at work and I really don't love them. You have to hook them with pods, cables everywhere, etc. I want it built-in.

I've been told not to expect NAVI on Canadian Civics. Would put the price too high in this ultra price competitive segment. And don't hold your breath expecting "deals" on financing. 2005s are where the 1.9% rates are at...

That's what I thought... But they should offer it as an option. Maybe not a lot of people would get it, but it would still be a plus value to have it.

As for financing, even if the car is awesome, they must be careful about financing. People wont get it if it costs 2500$ more because of interest rate versus the competition....

The maps for canada in auto GPS's really suck, they don't want to pay for the map rights.

New Civic's "Grand Opening" lease rates and residual value will be very high, given its history of high resale value. Don't expect subsidary rates for Civic for the first 2 years.

This is a very small detail, but I have always wondered why manufacturers use red turn signals(tail light signals) on certain models and orange on others. For instance why does the new civic sedan have red signals, yet the coupe has orange? is organge supposed to be more "sporty" or something?

Impressive new vehicle nonetheless. I am eager to see what they are like in person.

Disagree Wing.  I think the Canadian maps that came with the navi on our MDX is just fine.  All roads (with the exception of new ones) are all there, the unit calculates the proper driving directions, it is integrated into the audio and steering wheel controls, it's more secure to have a built in unit etc.  However, it is expensive, not portable, probaby a maintenance nightmare (on units where other features are integrated into the touch screen) etc.  I like the built in unit.

Some maps suck...but the one thing that is a rip off is the upgraded maps....Acura is charging $280 for the 2005 maps.

As for putting the navi into the Civic....not here.  It didn't make it hear on the Mazda 3.  Don't expect it even as an option.  It is still a fancy luxury good for the time being.  Perhaps in a couple years everybody can have one so that all drivers can be distracted by them.  :)

Who in their right mind NEEDS navi in a Civic (for that matter, in any vehicle IMO)?

The continual adding of these "toys" and "luxury features" just keep upping the cost and the complexity of sane-sized, utilitarian vehicles.

Bad navigators?  :lol

Nav is a useful function only if you travel lots or live in a city so big you don't know your way around big parts of it but need to drive all of it.  For most applications, it's a toy.

Went to gatineau yesterday, would have be SCREWED without my Navi.  I set the navi which would have given me the same directions as mapquest, get off on Parkdale.  Well parkdale was closed :o

As a result I had to navigate my way around downtown ottawa one-way mahem, I didn't have a clue where I was, but the Navi had me in Gatineau and to my destination without having worry.

Generally i don't need it, but I did yesterday, and last time I went to Montreal, the group I was with got lost when they went their way, I haven't a clue in Montreal, but I found my way with my GPS without a hickup or any argueing with my passenger.  I can't live without it now.

Found a small mistake - the base (2.0 litre) Mazda3 makes 148 horsepower, not 138.

On topic: Paul's right... the interior of that new Civic is weird... that'll take some getting used to.

Was going to point that out too Stick - ya beat me to it.

I love the new interior. And the rest of 'er ain't bad either - but the interior is the killer!

In case anyone's keeping score, Civic annihilated the marketplace in August with 9,233 Civic sales alone. Talk about some clear-out!  :o

In fact, the 2006 Mazda3 is at SAE 150HP @ 6500 RPM from www.mazda.ca
