Road Paint Follow-up
« on: September 03, 2005, 01:18:40 pm »
As you all know I had that mega splash of roadpaint along the bottom of the door on my coupe.  Finally got around to trying the clay bar today.

Didn't work.  :'(

It looks like I'm going to have to use my finger nail to scrape it off.  I can't think of anything else to try that's not going to harm the clear coat or base coat.  C'est la vie.

Again, sorry to hear about that.  But Clay bar will not work - it is meant for like a soft polish only.

You need to try a light-duty automotive paint thinner (I used one called R-2) which should immediatly remove roadpaint and not your car's paint.  As long as you don't push too hard or work it too long (to go down through clearcoat), you should be fine.  If you are worried about using it, you can always wax the area after / and then use you clay bar!

good luck

Road paint is atomic in nature.  After it cures only sandpaper and repaint will do it.
