Ford's overall sales in August were poor compared to their competitors (except GM, who did worse):
http://www.globeinvestor.com/servlet/ArticleNews/story/RTGAM/20050902/wxrautos02

"GM Canada's sales slid 4 per cent and Ford gained 3 per cent.

Market share of the Detroit-based three fell to 51.6 per cent in August, believed to be the lowest yet. Honda's record performance allowed it to displace Ford in the top three sales slots.

"The employee discounts had a shelf life of about a month," said Dennis DesRosiers, president of DesRosiers Automotive Consultants Inc. of Richmond Hill, Ont.
...
Honda's overall sales rose 4 per cent.
...
Mr. DesRosiers said it's the first time Ford has been outsold in a month by an offshore-based manufacturer, although Toyota has outsold DaimlerChrysler on a few occasions.

He described it as "shocking" that Ford was outsold by both Honda and DaimlerChrysler."

Funny how even with the huge employee discounts, GM and Ford are still losing ground to the imports.
