alero 2000-water leaking near break-gaz pedal why?? help :(
« on: September 01, 2005, 02:09:54 pm »
i have a 2000 alero. love my car. however for the past two years, everytime its raining my floor carpet on driver side only near my gaz-break pedals gets wet and the water seems to go under my seat.
i went to a auto glass shop ( has recommeded by the garage) thinking tha it was coming from my window seal. they found nothing wrong..they even checked my fire wall.nothing.
they dont know why its leaking ...or were the water is coming from.the rest of the car is entirely dry..dash, windows, doors, car seat..just the floor on driver side.under my driver seat the floor bakets are starting to rust on my carpet any idea where to look for this leak? and im afraid my floor will rust severely if i dont find the problem...hopefully its not to late!

Check to make sure the drains at the base of the windshield on the outside are not obstructed.  Also check to make sure that your driver side door gaskets are okay.  One more thing is to check inside the driverside front wheel well.  Water has a tendancy to travel.

I would also check the Airvent seals as it may be coming thru there or on the other side of the windsheild.  Water can travel around before it shows up and it has to be either the windsheild seal  top or bottom or around the airvent. Coming thru the door seal should be easy to see and leave stains on the bottom of the door panel.
