Here are the choices that are available on the market in Canada right now.  You'll have to pardon me if I've missed any.

Whichever one comes with a stick-shift and is fun to drive.  Oh... none?  Hmm... too bad.

What is the appeal of the Accord Hybrid?  I don't get that one at all.  According to Consumer Reports, in real world use it still doesn't average above 30 mpg (combined city/highway).  In California, it doesn't get the HOV lane exemption because of this.

I somewhat understand the Civic Hybrid, though the regular old Toyota Echo beats it for fuel efficiency according to Consumer Reports.

The Insight and Prius both make sense to me.

If I was “forced” to buy a Hybrid it would be the Highlander. If I’m going to be bored to death it might as well be cost t effective. Wing….the Lexus!.....Pfffff just over priced Highlander just for image. A luxury Hybrid….is not that an oxymoron?

You can't expect the rich to be slumming it while helping the environment now do you Snowman?  ;)

Prius hands-down. It's unique looking, a versatile hatchback, has enough room, nice screen in the console to show you what's happening in the drivetrain, cool lightweight materials, HIDs (or is that only in the US?), Smart key access, LED tail lamps. Plus, it gets superb mileage and has been proven very reliable. Excellent resale as well.

The Honda Civic Hybrid is avail in manual. Or was at least. I thought that was very cool.

Can't beat the Insight for mileage, but it's mighty dinky and priced right up there with Prius almost.

The SUV hybrids make sense b/c they offer better mileage than their gas counterparts.

The Accord hybrid is lost on me. It's not THAT much more powerful IMO to warrant the extra technology. But again, if you normally use the car in stop and go, could be worthwhile. Really though, until the new Civic Hybrid comes out where you can go on electric power along, Toyota's system is more desirable.

You can't really criticize anybody's choice here (except the Lexus  ;D)  without knowing their circumstances.  I would pick the Highlander as I have a family and need space. I also want the AWD capacity.

My second choice would be the Ford Escape, if I could be convinced that the available room would be enough.

I dunno, I went on a clicking rampage through my profile settings and it showed up and hasn't gone away since.  It's been more than 4 hours...should I seek medical attention or some other professional opinion?

Prius.  Though I love the Ford Escape, and that would be my second choice.  Saw an Escape Hybrid the other day, in fact.
