The fan was a little loud so there was some hardship.  No guilt really, I look at as a special tax rebate.

The majority of the people that stayed behind did not do so out of choice.  The middle class white folks with cars ran away and left the poor, mostly black population with many disabled to fend for themselves.  They ended up in shelters and the Superdome and are only being evacuated today.  However, police have halted evacuation efforts to rally against looters.

Quite the post-apocalyptic, Lord of the Flies scene down there.  Absolutely horrifying.  Then again, I'd be looting stores for water and food, too, if my survival depended on it.  I'm sure it gets to a point where it's every man for himself.

Back to the price of gas... $1.13 this morning at my end of the world.

Many local stations were in the $1.20+ range last night.  The Crappy Tire gas bar was $1.249. I found a 'bargain' at $1.056/L.  I filled up both vehicles as I doubt I'll find it cheaper anytime soon.

Back to the price of gas... $1.13 this morning at my end of the world.

Exactly $1 cheaper than what I paid in Italy in June, difference is, it has only gone up 7.5 cents since then, not 30 cents.
