That 318ic = crap

What I find funny is the discussion is always about new cars.....somehow no one ever says, "my parents agreed to give me thier 7 yr old car when they bought a new one"....

Whatever.  Everyone's priorities are different, everyone's financial means are different.  I went through on the hand me down system.  Yup, in my final year, I had a car.  A 9 yr old rabbit.  And yes, I always had what people back then considered a "nice" stereo system - all hand me downs from brothers.

Over the years I've met far too many kids who were given cars at school who are so totally ungrateful and obnoxious.  It's their right, just the same as making mom and dad pay for a $50,000 wedding and a downpayment on the house.  There's an awful lot of spoiled kids around. (And yes, the parents are the ones who allow it to happen). And when mom and dad hit 85, the kids suddenly hover around, worrying about the will.  I see it every day.  It's pathetic.

My folks were so rich they rented out our Summer home to the Queen...in return she did our laundry at
Buckingham Palace...I was driven to school in a gilded carriage pulled by 8 white horses...Eton 'ol sausage...but soon I grew tired of eating old sausage and had Beluga Burgers flown in daily from the Caspian....however I grew up unspoilt to be the handsome, self effacing, charmer you all love and adore know as Sir Saff first Lord of the Board..........

Actually nothing wrong with buying your kid a decent A to B car for school. But I still shake my head at the SLK's SLR's and M3's in the student lot. Dont care how you justify it.

Crofton...
My fiancee went to Crofton, but unfortunately she does not have super rich parents (not even rich for that matter)....
Of course, she knew a kid who got a brand new Ferrari for his 16th (or 18th?) birthday....
Nice gift though natural selection might come into play here and the parents might have regretted it...
All you need is a 3-4 years old Civic and that's it!

Needless to say my dream of a 318ic (for now) is over, I'm actually glad though that it was so blatantly bad!

And my 318is coupe was the best car I've ever owned from a "drives like a car should" standpoint. I didn't have any problems in my 4 years of ownership. I bought it new.

I only sold it due to frustration...too many inbred drivers dreaming in the left lane with their thumb stuck up their butt...I couldn't "drive" it. ::)
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!

A true driver's car does not have cup holders.
