Rear washer not working on 98 Grand Caravan
« on: August 24, 2005, 12:11:23 am »
Hello everone.

I have a 98 grand caravan.  And the rear window washer is not working.  The wiper is working, there is fluid, and the front one is working.  I do not hear a motor when the button is pressed.  I have checked the fuses and they are OK (looks like front and rear are on the same fuse)

I have the Hayes manual, but it does not mention where the motor is and how to get to it.

Please let me know how to get to it.

TIA

Paul

The motor is inside the hatch piece. To get to it you need to remove the inside hatch panel. Its a litle labour intensive to remove since the panel is held in place by both small screws and flap tabs. Replacing the motor is pretty easy and self explanatory.

If washer pump needs to be replaced be sure to check price of replacement pump at Cdn Tire. For a Mazda I had it was 1/2 the price the dealer wanted. It fit perfectly and worked just fine.

As a suggestion check with the dealer to see if they have a rebuild kit for this part. Its usually just the little rubber seals that go in these pumps and some times you can buy them in a kit for around the $10.00 price area. Hope this helps.
