1995 Mercury Mystique
« on: August 22, 2005, 12:02:38 pm »
I am going to be selling a 1995 Mercury Mystique with about 102,000 km on it. Any suggestions as to how much I might expect to get for it on a trade-in?

Thank you!

Hi Roon Welcome to the Forum, Being a 1995 with low milage if it is somewhat loaded with options I would think probably around $3000. to $3500. on a good day. You might be better off to sell this vehicle private to get the most out of it.

I looked at a Mystique a couple of years ago that had about the same KM's on it and the dealer only wanted 1500 for it.  There are a lot of variables though.  What kind of condition is the body in?  Interior??? ETC.  Barrie is right though.... It is somewhat low KM's so you may be able to get 3K for it.  Depending on what dealer you go to for trade in they may try and low ball you.

In December 2002, I was offered anywhere from $3500 to $5400 for my 98 Mystique LS, leather, auto (rebuilt tranny) with ~154K.

In other words - don't get your hopes up when looking for trade-in offers.  Sell privately.  I would have, but I couldn't look the buyer in the eye and tell him he was getting a good car.

Thanks! As it turns out, I goofed. It's a '96, and only has 96,000km on it. I'm selling it for my mother. No real options except the cd player.

Thanks again for the input!

The body is in great condition. There is one rust spot just above the driver's door which I can fix easily. There DOES happen to be some sort of computer problem that the mechanic can't fix. The engine light occasionally comes on and stays on for a few days then turns off. It's never been because of a "real" problem though.

Beyond that, it's in great condition.

CEL on a Mystique?  9 times out of 10, an O2 sensor.  How many have been replaced?  You don't want to cook your cats - it's an expensive repair because the two pre-cats are hard to get to.
