RSX versus RX8 -- Round 2

I think the Ghost deal on a 05 Saabaru 92X Aero was the best GM employee pricing deal struck.  There was still a manual (silver) version in Pickering a few weeks ago (beginning of August) when I inquired.

And what's a little turbo lag compared to waiting for the second cam profile at 6000 rpm in an RSX S?

True, the 9-2X Aero does make for a better deal (legend has it, it's also cheaper to insure than the Rex too).

The RSX can still get out of its own way before 6000 rpms -- its much smoother and more linear power too.  Off-boost, the 2L Turbo boxer feels like massive elastic bands are holding it back.... until they snap, then look out!

The turbo lag issues are much lessened with the 06 WRX's anyway.

Re-run post? Huh? I said before I'd pick the RX-8 over the RSX. Now I say, neither are good cars.

WRX has no mystique, but it works exactly for what I want in a fun-to-drive everyday car. Insurance costs are still not that bad assuming you get a wagon, and even better, the Saabaru version.

It's funny how even non-car-folk get that the 9-2X isn't really a Saab.  I overheard a few of the ladies in the office talking about the new 9-2X that one of the guys here just picked up.  Nice machine to me, but to the 'hens' they said with much disdain, "Oh it's not even a real Saab, it's made by Chrysler."

Ha ha...  Great little machine, but it ain't gettin' no respect!

Who cares what others think. All that counts is the opinion in the driver’s seat.

Hey Jeff1, Mazda has a two year lease on the RX-8.
4995 down and $298/mo for 2 years. That should give you enough time to decide which car to pick up

"The WRX costs more still than the RX8 because of its high insurance AND fuel costs..."

Are you sure the WRX uses more fuel than the RX8?
Manual transmission, all use premium fuel:
RX8 city 12.8/ hwy 9.2
WRX city 11.8/ hwy 8.0
RSX city 10.4/ hwy 7.0

I've read that the RX8 (on this forum and other sites) has worse fuel economy than expected, not to mention the oil consumption. I'm sure it's fun to drive, though. Aren't all three of these cars expensive to insure? The Integra sure is/was.
Own: RSX or WRX
Lease: RX8

Edit: I'm surprised to see that my Forester is (ever so slightly) more efficient than the RX8:
city 12.2/ hwy 9.0
Unfortunately Chevron 92 has been $1.17/litre lately!

When buying a performance oriented car insurance rates and operating costs will be higher, they go hand in hand. THIS SHOULD NOT be a surprise. If the WRX is thrown into this comparison you know my answer.

Corey, you're right... sorry I meant to say that the WRX is more for fuel and insurance than the RSX... and costs more to begin with.

The rates on the '06s coming out won't be favourable at all and will make it cost more than the RX8 too whose insurance would also be lower.
