I think Mazda Canada has updated their MX-5 page as well (and added the model to the Build And Price tool).

I'll miss the 'Miata'.

Sounded light, fun, and frisky.

Get a puppy then.  I'm pleased with the effort to 'de-brand' the chick-car association.  :-)

With a compression ratio of 10.8 to 1 this car will certainly need premium fuel. Another added expense to the ownership experience.

Checked two out at the dealership last night.  Here are pics taken by a friend (Chris, the mechanic from www.eunos.ca ).

http://www.eunos.ca/gallery/NC

Both cars were pre-sold.  The red is the special Limited Edition, the Grey one is a GS.

Thoughts:
- the top is the most brilliant design for a manual top I've ever seen.  Light, easy, clean, and super tight.
- the seats are surprisingly narrow (I'm 5'10" 180 lbs) and look uncomfortable.  When you sit down, they felt good and definitely grab you behind.
- in the 6th pic on the first page (refers to unexplored territory) at the bottom you can see the joint between the bumper cap and the front quarter.  The joint is very straight and very noticeable and really disrupts the lines of the front of the car.  Also, the gaps on the Grey GS at this point were uneven.
- trunk is like the NA and NB trunks merged.  Better than before, but stil not huge.  That said, the trunk hydraulics (or whatever you call them) are really firm and a nice change from the wimpy springs in the old cars (think trunk closing on itself on a hill).
- even with the new motor and dual exhaust, it still sounds a little whimpy - like the old Miata
- on page 2 you can see proof in a picture - a big FoMoCo stamped on the block!!!
- these things ride very high (wheel gap is brutal).  Aftermarket springs or spring/shock combos will be very popular.

That's it for now as I didn't get to drive one.  I'm sure I forgot lots of stuff, happy to respond to questions.

Is there not spring spacers for shipping?  That seems REALLY high, which would upset the cars balance you would expect.

Those cars had both been prepped for delivery so I assume spacers were removed (didn't see any when I looked in the rear wheel wells).  Starting in 96 Miatas have been afflicted with really bad ride height, but it seemed like it was fixed for the NB's (probably an illusion of the new body style).  Until I drive one I won't have a actual comparison so I won't really know.

Not too WILD about the Special Edition ..ONLY in RED...still like the GS cofig with that Blue/Grey colouration.  do they come with RED LEATHER seats???..gotta admit the older ones at half the price are more in my purview......

Assuming is a bad thing, most S2000's are prepped and they forget those things in.

But I think it is partly an illusion.

Saf, the mazda.ca configurator can show you the combos.  The Grey on the GS doesn't have much blue in it, was a pretty neutral charcoal grey.  I think you can only get the red leather on the special edition.  Hard to beat the value prop of an old one and $10-15k in fixup/mods (total cost under $25k and it will be faster than a new one).
