Water pump on 1991 VW Jetta diesel
« on: August 18, 2005, 01:09:17 am »
The manual states that 4bolts and the pump and housing come off, but not true. Do i need to remove the alternator/ air conditioner compressor bracket to remove the upper pump housing bolts? This would involve removal of the injection pump. Not really liking that idea. Can the two upper bolts be reached with out removing injection pump.

I did a water pump on my 1991 VW 1.6L/NA. All I have to do was pull the PS pump off, belts and unbolt the water pump. I didn't the injection pump and neither should you as it requires a great deal of patience and knowhow to time an injection pump.
