Topic: 2003 Accord 2 x 12v with different power output, is it ture?

Hello,

I owned a 2003 Honda Accord V6 and have a question on the 2 12v power in the car. (1 under the CD storage compactment and the other inside the armrest compactment).

I have a Garmin IQ3600 GPS and when I plugged the 12v adaptor to the one under the CD storage compactment, I got no power. I have to plug it to the one inside the arm rest compactment.

I checked with my Honda dealer back in 2003, they told me both have 2 different output.

The problem still hung inside my head, I went through the user manual, it doesn't tell me both produce different output.

It just doesn't make any sense...

I also check with Honda Canada, it is a total waste of time, they told me to check with my deal.

Any idea?

Check if the 12v adaptor under the CD compartments works at all with anything. If the dealer has any other 2003 Accords, see if the Garmin can draw power from their under-CD 12v outlet.

When I bought my car an tried to drive it home, my Garmin iQue 3600 could get no power from the 12v in the centre console.  

I took it back to the dealer, and tried it it in the centre console of another Volvo S60 and it worked fine. They investigated and found that the fuse to that particular 12v outlet in my car had blown. They replaced the fuse and then the outlet worked fine.

I forgot to mention that the 12v under the cd storage compactment work fine with my cellphone adaptor.

I will take your advice to test my IQ3600 at the dealer if they have any used 03 model for sales.

I've got an 03 Accord and an 05 Accord and both plug ins work.  I can plug my cell phone into either one.  The person at your dealer who told you this is feeding you a line!  They probably didn't want to be bothered pulling the console apart to check the connections.  Maybe they were having a bad day, week, year or life?  I would insist on talking to someone else at the dealer or going to another one.  I usually bypass the service department and go right to the guy that sold me the car.  Things seem to get done a little smoother and easier when I do.
