So silly for Suzuki to provide you with a AWD SX Auto.  Clearly the right choice would have been a 5 speed or Auto Sedan or SE to get it under the 20G mark, gas milage would have improved dramatically.  The engine is also much more suited to FWD.  An Auto Aerio will run 0-60 in 9.4sec (according to Drivers Seat), a 5 speed in about 7.5 sec...seriously!  The AWD is somewhere around 11sec for the same sprint.

Well, at least Shnak didn't say "You could have done a lot BETTER than the ___..."

True enough, but it was still a negative compliment.

Plus, it was a great opportunity to type "FACK SHNAK"!!!

Congrats! I liked the Aerio I test drove a couple of weeks ago. It should serve you very well. Pretty colour too.

Thanks for the kudos!  I would have loved to get the SX - nicer grille, spoiler, body kit - but it cost more than my budget - well over $400/month on the road.  Remember  - I've recently gone from paying no rent to $700.00/month.  PLus I've had to buy furniture etc.  A new life is not cheap.  I got quite a deal on this - $374.80/month, $0 down, 0% for 60 months, the dealer is paying my first month for me, plus I get one free oil change/year for as long as I own the car, plus I got free roof rails (weren't in stock, will be in on Thursday or Friday,) plus the $750.00 recent grad rebate.  Effective monthly rate with all discounts thrown in is $362.09.  Full purchase price on the road out of my pocket is $21 363.31.

The 155 ponies are strong enough; the Volvo only had 168hp, on a much heavier car.  With AWD, this engine would be working hard.  Plenty of oompf for in town and the highway.

Hey Bullit on the photo thing - maybe someone really doesn't like ME or the CAR, or BOTH!

Why this car?  Because it is a bit different, has more space than the Elantra 5 door, has a better safety rating than the Spectra 5 - the Aerio has 5 stars (remember I just owned a Volvo,) and Suzuki has a better rep than Kia, perhaps similar to Hyundai. And then there's my underdog thing... When I bought the Volvo I was really looking for an 850 or 240 wagon, but could't find one at the right price.  I am a hatch/wagon person at heart.  What would I buy if I had more financial freedom?  Volvo V50, Audi A3, or a new SAAB Sportkombi...  If they were available? Alfa 147, SEAT Leon, or Skoda Octavia.  So the Aerio will do for the next 5 years and then...

Great car GK!! Love the colour and tailights aren't too shabby either! From what I hear from my cousin (also new Aerio buyer), the car is plenty peppy and fun to drive. And once you go Hatch, you'll never go back!! (Sorry, somebody had to say it)

Great deal too... There's only one thing missing. Post pix of interior please!! Haven't had a chance to go into cousin's car, so your pics will have to suffice for now

Interior is pretty good, think VW black and grey meets Pontiac red instrument lighting.  I'll try to get pics up soon.  Aren't there any on the suzuki.ca website?

Great stuff Gk. I'm sure you'll enjoy it a lot and let us know how it holds up through the years! I've always had interest in the Aerio, so I'm interested to hear more about it as you use it more and more.

"With AWD, this engine would be working hard." That's exactly what I fould in the AWD that I tested (I wanted FWD, but they didn't have one). My experience suggests that the reliability should be good.

Gee, who knew that you might want something a little different or quirky? Enjoy!!

Auto of course - it's me, remember?  SE has steel wheels, no central locking, a different grille & body kit, no driving lights, no spoiler, single CD as opposed to 6 disc option, and no AWD available....
