Nissan don't seamed to be as popular in Canada as they are in Europe - Nissan build some great cars - they used to be leaques above Mazda - I remember Mazda being the worst if you wanted to buy a Japanese car - Mazda seams to have come a long way - Nissan who was better car manufactor - seams to be lagging behind - I wonder why?

Nissan was totally revamped lately and I see tons of them now.  They are gaining stride.  And the old stanza and sentra ran forever (at least the samples I've seen).

Yesterday I saw a G35 sedan, and then another and then another and then another.  Seriously 5 in just a couple of blocks.

TopGear stated the other day Mazda's go forever they are indistructable.... I don't know about that.

Mazda has a very good rep in Europe.

Priced rather low, drive with sporty character, and their customer service and satisfaction are among the highest of all brands there.

I think Renault is great with Nissan. Renault's cars are so funky I'd love to own one. Nissan has excellent powerplants, great style now, and the new ones are bang-on with many product executions (power/room/styling of Altima). Quest could use a more ergonomic interior, the Maxima could be more differentiated, and that Sentra is ultra long in the tooth, but otherwise they're lookin' way up. Have chartered into SUV and FS pick-up territory mightily as well. Infiniti's thriving.

Seems Nissan can turn around product like no-one's business.

Altima? I see maybe 1 a day in Hull... Not that popular compared to the Camry and Accord. I'm pretty sure I see more Mazda6s than Altimas.

Maybe in Hull, but in the GTA, Canada's largest car market, you'll run into an Altima at every corner. They're that common.

Well to be fair, I'm often in Ottawa and I don't see Altimas that often either. Maybe it's just that I don't notice them at all, which wouldn't be very good. But I always notice Accords and Mazda6s...

Anyways, I don't think sales numbers of the Altima are extremely good. They have cooled off in recent years, it's time for a new redesign. I think Siraqua posted exact Canadian sales numbers of mid-size sedans a while ago and the Altima was 4th or 5th behind the Accord, Camry, Mazda6 and Malibu I believe.

Er No - I was only making an observation about Nissan - I also said I remember the days when Mazda used to be the worst - of the 3 main japanese manufactors - in the earliy 80's  - as far as I know Mazda now make great cars - I just don't think Nissan are as popular as they should be.

Altima is dime-of-a-dozen in Vancouver, every second car is a 2.5S Extra (2.5Sex). G35 and FX are quite popular despite they priced so close to its German rivals. Equally popular are Murano and Sentra 1.8S. Since Germans still own this market, you hardly see more than 1-2 new M35/45 a week.

Tons of Nissans on the road here - Altima, some Maximas, lots of Pathys and now the new Pathy is starting to show up, a few Armadas and Titans.

Edit - forgot Muranos of which there are quite a few here also.

Altimas are everywhere in Halifax. Good amount of maximas and the sentras are still selling strong it seems. I've only seen 1 titan to date though. There's lots of Xterras here too.

I see LOTS of Altimas and Muranos. The new Pathfinder I'm seeing more, and the occassional Quest.

I see EXTREMELY few Titans and Armadas. The Sentra I don't even notice, thank God. Maxima sales have been slow and don't see too many of those - prob more Z-Cars 'round these parts.

X-Trails are popular too.

Altima sales have been extremely strong. Since intro, I think Nissan keeps growing sales of that thing. Nationally, Accord, Camry, Altima I believe, with Mazda6 trailing by a fair margin and alongside a number of others, as the 6 does well in ON and QC but not elsewhere.

Altima has come from nothing to really put pressure on the previous big-2 Japanese mid-sizers. It's done well, and has stood out.

The current Altima style has been around for quite a while, so it's not surprising, but I see at least a dozen Altimas for every Mazda 6. G35 is something of a sales breakthrough for Infiniti, lots of them around. X-Trail seems to be doing OK, too. There's three of them on my block alone. I was just about to say the Sentra is dead in the water, but a screaming yellow Spec V just went by, and I would dearly love to be driving it. I don't think Nissan's doing all that bad.
