I know what you mean. I was just probing the service advisor to see what he says. But I know it's best that I get it fixed, which I am. So, I'm listening to you and being a good girl.:-)

Personally I think its a wise move on your part as we all know how much you enjoy your cars. I want mine to run perfect or it just drives me crazy with the knowledge that something is wrong with it. Its not as enjoyable when something is wrong and is bugging me in the back of my mind.

Thanks. They hate it when I probe them. Anyways, the engine mount was replaced today.  My valve cover gasket is leaking and they wanted $162, that's including the discount. I thought it was abit high. Not sure if anyone agrees or not. But I called an independent shop and they said they will do it for half price.

You are correct as that is very high priced to replace a leaking gasket on this engine design. The bigger the shop the higher the overhead so thats probably why they want so much to change it out.

As for your slow leaking tire/wheel. I just use one of those aerosol foam/flat fixers. It has never failed me yet and works best on slow leaks. The new aerosols don't blow anyone up either!

I think a lot depends on what type of slow leak you have as I have used this on rusted rims and it had no effect at all. The old type did kill and maim a few mechanics in its day and thankfully it is off the market. I have found it seems to work best with tires that have a nail or similar item in them. Thats been my experience with them.

I took my car to another shop and got the valve cover gasket, spark plug seals and cam end plug replaced for $70 cash. I didn't see them replace the parts, but I've dealt with the owner before and he's pretty honest. If not, then I'll put a big scratch on his RSX.
As for the tire leak.  I haven't checked the pressure yet.  I'll do that tomorrow and see if it's still leaking. A friend of my came over last week to adjust the valve stem. So, I hope that was the problem. If not, then I'm back to square one.

If the valve stem air valve was loose and they tightened it up then it may be solved. Hopefully this is what it was.
