Wheel Lug Pattern Problems
« on: July 25, 2005, 03:13:57 am »
I heard there are many types of lug patterns...

let's assume the wheels have 5 lugs...

i already heard 5x100, 5x108, 5x114.3... etc

my question is: if my car is 5x108 (it's a Volvo dimension) and wanna have a set of wheels with 5x112 or 5x114.3 or whatever that fits, is it necessary to do mods for the car? (i.e. get a new set of brake system if ncessary so that the wheels can fit properly...)

I think the question you are trying to ask is:

Can I put wheels with different bolt patterns on my car?

No, not without an adaptor or modifying the attachment of the lugs.

Hope this helps.

re Capriracer: yeah that's what i'm trying to ask! haha thnx! but where can i find those adaptor? cuz i reckon some lug patterns are quite rare compared to common ones like 5x100 and 5x114.3 ^__^

There are also some universal wheels that have 8 or 10 holes so they become a wide range of types.

5x108 is a tough bolt pattern to find wheels for. You can get adapters from companies such as H&R, but is something not generally recommended. Dual drills are often a good option, but again the 5x108 is not a commom option in many wheel lines.

Are you looking for a particular style? Perhaps we can help point you towards something.
