BFG KDW2's wider then normal...
« on: July 22, 2005, 01:49:57 pm »
Has anyone with the KDW new treads noticed that they are wider then other tires of the same size.  I replaced my Kumho 712 (235/40/18) with the KDW2 and now the tires seem to stick out wider then the Kumhos. Now it seems like its rubbing the fender too.

Does anyone know if the KDW's are wider then usual?

They definitely have a nice square shoulder. They are within spec, but when compared to same size from a different manufacturer might be wider. Size is an average as each manufacturer might be slightly larger or smaller than another. Is the vehicle lowered?

Yes, the car is lowered, about 1.7in

I seem to have a little rubbing now with the kdw's in the rear.

Is it ok to use 2 different sets of tires? can i use a different set of tires for the front? (looking to use f1 gs-d3)

Not ideal to run 2 different set of tires. If it is rubbing on the fender you might consider getting a body shop to roll them. This will give you a little extra clearance.
