98 Pathfinder Tranny??
« on: July 20, 2005, 10:21:35 am »
1998,auto,161,000kms.  First started when truck was cold, it would stall when I put it in reverse.  Had to wait a bit for it to warm up.  Then even while driving it wouldn't shift until it warmed up more.  Now when I went to shift to reverse this metal type rattle/grinding???  Even stays when I put it in park.  Shift to D and it takes some time to kick in???  What do you think?  Speed sensor, pcm-tcm, tranny pump, bands slipping or tranny pooched!!!!
thanks for your help.

I think that it is an under serviced tranny. What's the fluid look like?  Are you sure the transfercase it in 2 wheel drive?

Check your fluid levels and the colour of it to start. When was the last time it was serviced with a new filter kit and fluid?
