Tire pressure
« on: July 17, 2005, 04:10:43 pm »
I recently purchased a new corolla.  Im confused about what psi I should be running my tires.  The manual says one thing, the tires say another.  Which should I be following?

The definitive pressure is listed on a sticker on the door edge...probably 32 psi for a Corolla.

You got it Redbike.  The reading on the sidewall of the tire is for the maximum pressure as recommended by the tire maker.  The tag on the door post or glovebox sticker or owner's manual is from the car maker and is the one to follow.  Remember tires can be put on a number of different vehicles but the steering and suspension of the car was designed with a specific tire pressure in mind.
If selling and fixing cars were easy, car makers would be doing it.

Actually he may of missed asking a question. The door sticker is for the stock tire size.
