So the Integra Girl now is all shiny and dripping in oil .....

Well, the Integra Girl is now all shiny and it looks like it's in showroom condition. :-) Not dripping oil yet as I have not taken it back to the bodyshop for the rustproofing. He told me in 2 weeks, so I'm think maybe late next week.

Now what if the bodyshop that did the work on my car does not use T40 or T32?  Am I suppose to bite the bullet and not take advantage of the free rust proofing for the life of the vehicle, which could add up to $1300?

I think I would ask for the drippy stuff and go with the Freebee under the circumstances. If the day comes for you to replace either car then I would definitely go to the Krown dealer then. Thats my 2 cents worth Susan.

Hey Barrie,

Yeah, I think I'll do that. As for my older car, I can take that to Krown because nothing was done to that car.  I know you guys know your stuff and that's why I post the important questions on this forum because I will get accurate answers, even if I don't like it.  Thanks guys.  Drippy it is!! :-)

Now what if the bodyshop that did the work on my car does not use T40 or T32?

T40 and T32 are Krown only products. They will use something else.  The only reason that I got into this discussion is that you said they gave you a choice between dripless and stuff that drips.  To me that says "BS". They should not be giving you the choice because dripless on a car particularily like yours is useless.  Your Integra needs the penetrating type fluids BIG TIME.

To me it's a marketing gimmic to offer free "rustproofing" for life with body work when the "rustproofing" is not proven.  But these guys know the stats about people not showing up for various reasons so they have factored in the actual cost to them on the original body job.

So get their drippy stuff and hold it to them about free treatments and no reoccurring rust for eternity.

Just a fact about Krown:  If you are one that buys into the hype about their warranty, Krown does NOT warranty rust on cars if it occurs above the bottom of the glass.  So areas around sunroofs and windshield pillars are not covered.  I was a little surprised by that but I don't go there for the warranty. I'm just glad the product/service is available.

Susan I would have the work done early in the day and then head over to a mall or someplace like this to spend the day. Hcrv's suggestion is a good one and also put a old tarp or heavy cardboard down on your driveway at home. That should cover it quite well and keep the messy drip problem away from your home.

Hey Steve,

I understand what you're saying now.  And I really appreciate you telling me all this, otherwise I would not know all this. You certainly know alot about rustproofing and just about anything else. Which is why I take your opinions seriously.

So, drippy it is.  And Krown for my older car. Like I said, I know Krown is really good because every other bodyshop I've been to mention them. I guess the bodyshop I took my car too has been in the business for so long, they decided to offer their own oil spray to try and make more money.

So, thanks again:-)  Oh Steve, I'll be coming your way for a visit one of these days and you can give me an ear ful on buying old used cars. hahaha.

Don't bother with newspaper, it goes right thru that.  If it's your own property don't concern yourself too much because it does disappear eventually.  Also, don't use your good wash mit or brush on the car the first while because it will wreck them.  But there again I'm talking about Krown.

If the rustproofing is DEALER APPLIED, I'd shy away.

I've seen two of my friend's cars that got "dealer applied" rustproofing. I pointed out what a crappy job they did and they went back and raised hell.

Don't get any of those "protection packages" at the dealers. That is where they make the big $$$ and the job they do is done in no time flat (not a very good job).

Of course, the best product is also useless if it isn't applied properly. I spray my car with Krown myself. It is coated...believe me.
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!

A true driver's car does not have cup holders.

Do you get it from the Krown dealer?  If the source is available to anyone I would appreciate a PM because I have shop air and many applicators.

The rustproofing is not from a dealership, it's from a bodyshop. I have never taken my car to a dealer for rustproofing. I wouldn't buy a stereo system from there, so I sure the heck will not  rust proof my car at a dealership.
I know this stuff will drip like crazy, so I'll do what Barrie suggested, go to a mall for a couple of hours and dirty up their parking spot.  And I was thinking about putting a huge card board or something so it won't make a big mess in the garage. My brother just painted the garage floor, so I don't think he'll be too thrilled with me if I made a stinking mess!

If it's painted, it shouldn't be too hard to clean up.  We're not talking about draining your engine oil on the floor - it's just a few drips.
