Cr-V vs. X-trail

My Jetta has black leather, and it's a killer in this kind of weather.  Just brutal if you're wearing shorts.

On top of it all, Miss Jetta is dark blue, so the car heats up even more.  Never again.  My previous car was red, with grey leather seats, and I never had this problem.

Noit means that an ALL NEW CR-V will only be here in the fall of 2006 as a 2007 model. This fall we will have the 2006 CR-V and we are not expecting any changes at all as the vehicle went through its mid model change last fall adding 16" wheels, steering wheel audio controls, revised front and rear fascia, VSA (vehicle stability assist) and side curtain airbags as standard equipment on all models.

I'll keep my black cloth.

I much prefer cloth over leatherette or leather.

But it would be hard to turn away Alcatrana suede, but I don't think burning is much of a problem with that.

Unfortunately Siraqua, in the previous Jetta, you could only have steering wheel audio controls with the Leather package... and even though it can get pretty hot with black leather seats, I wouldn't want to be without those audio controls... I use them constantly! Maybe that's been changed for the new Jetta, but I wouldn't be interested in buying one anyways, so it doesn't matter to me.

I'm interested to see how the options packages will be designed for the new Passat though.

There's no cloth in Passat at all anymore.

Leatherette and leather, as in the current-gen. Funny enough, the US still has a Passat GL in 2005, with cloth. In fact, in the US their cheapest model is GL TDI - that woulda sold well here!

So I ordered my Cr- on Tuesday of last week (26?) And today I see that hondasaelesguy posted that there is a $500 gas card. Will I be entitled to that because my lease dealer said nothing about it.
Thanks again for everything guys

Gas card is not applicable on all models from what I understand. But since I am at hme today and August doesn't officially start for us until Tuesday, I am not 100% certain what the programs are and what cars qualify for the gas card. If your dealer registered the car before month end for warranty purposes you won't be able to get the August promo...

Just curious, what does that mean?

FCB - Did you consider Subaru's Forester?

(Man, this is long thread!)

at month end dealers register their cars through their manufacturer. This starts the warranty and also counts as a "sold" or "registered" unit. Different manufacturers do things differently, but some will give dealers brownie points for exceeding bonus, possibly even financial incentives (although Honda doesn't). Once a car is registered, any future incentives, rate decreases, cash back, or other progrrams can NOT be applied to this particular vehicle.

Ok we know all these small supposed SUV's are close in many ways machanically and in features or options, but what about looks.I have spent some time mulling over the Tucson ,X-trail and Honda and I come up with the same answer everytime I look at them.Remember you not only want a good stable vehicle, you also want it to look good. The X-Trail is definitly the best looking, has some class, looks more expensive than it is.The Tucson looks ok,but has more of a toy look to it(Tonka Toy).AS for the Honda CRV,sorry, but that is the ugliest looking, boxiest look, has the dullest front end I have ever seen,on looks alone I wouldn't buy one and yes there are many out there but those people have no taste! They just buy one cause their neighbour has one.Honda has good vehicles but they have no imagination for looks, the Camry, hmmmmmmm, just look long enough at the front end and you will be turned off.

Jimmy10...the Camry was a Toyota product last time I checked.

And funny how you can get a woody over the looks of the X Trail when it and the CR-V are dimensionally almost identical and both have the same squared off look. The X Trails taillights look like the previous generation CR-V's.

The X-Trail's painted bumpers and mouldings played a part in our decision.  The unpainted, black plastic bumpers and cladding on the CR-V and Forester X worked against them.  And I do think the X-Trail looks the most aggressive looking of the three, not that that's saying much.

One thing is these cute-utes are not elegant in appearance for a reason.  The car makers want them to 'look rugged' so they can be portrayed as tougher than they really are.  That's what consumers want.  So the blacked out bumpers etc give it that 'look'.  The X-Trail does look good (besides from those funny shaped headlights) and probably the best of the three mentioned.
