Air-con problem -98 sentra ga16de engine
« on: June 30, 2005, 04:39:24 pm »
Hi everyone,

It is 35 celcius degrees outthere and my air-conditionning had died on monday. (1998 sentra with a ga16-de engine)

I was struggling with it since a week or so (warm air) and now it seems to me that the compressor is not even strarting anymore (but I'm no too much of a mechanic)

any idea on how to fix or diagnose the problem?

bye bye

Morse welcome to the Forum, sorry to hear about the problem. I would suggest start by checking your fuse panel to see if the one for the air is blown or not. After that check all of the electrical connectors on the compressor. If they seem alright then a trip to your mechanic will probably be in order.

Morse if its a freon leak then they will fill it with a red dye in the freon and watch for the leaks. Once they locate them they can change each seal as required and refill the system. It may not be that bad after all. The kindest thing you can do is use the air conditioning in the winter as it keeps the seals moist and the oil in the compressor spread around evenly as well. By doing this you will increase the life of the whole system. Hope this helps.
