Need Tires

Hey Mort, when do the MXs go on sale?  One of the members of my club (Sea to Sky Miata Club) is looking for new performance tires.
I wish I could get a pair of MXs in 235/40 x 17s.  I'd replace my MX 215s on the back for better traction.

The MX are already on sale, but only in certain sizes. We will be having a 1 day sale on the 205/40R17 MX and it will be a screamer. Keep checking our site for details.

84im...the MX is an awesome tire. Remember you are driving that crazy miata. Be thankful... if you had pulled the same trick in a Viper or the like, you would probably not have had the chance to make the post!

You must drive within the capability of the tire. If you can do that they will treat you well. You can over drive any tire. Trick is to know what they are capable of and drive to their limits.

Capriracer...you are correct. proper size should be a 205/45/17. Dont see many of these running 17" as they are so hard to find wheels for.

Well, my quest for new tires wasn't as straight forward as I'd hoped.  It appears the proxes 4 are on back order till mid july at the earliest( and we all know what that means!).   Does tiretrends have them in stock?

The tire dealer mentioned that the proxes TPT also comes in the V-rated size I'm looking for.  Morty, you mentioned that the 4 is all in all a better tire.  Would I be disappointed with the TPT if got them?  I do enjoy spirited driving whenever I get the chance.

EDIT: I found a tire shop in Ottawa that only has two of the proxes 4 in stock.  I am going to have them installed on the rear and put two more on later when they come in.  I think this is a decent compromise.

If you need 205/40/17 then definitely get the P-Zero Nero M + S.  These tires do it all, wet and dry grip is excellent.  The treadwear rating is 400, so you'll get good durability out of them.  There really quiet as well.  I have no complaints at all about the P-Zero line.  Pirelli just puts it all into these tires.   You might pay a bit more, but you do pay for what you get.  Hope this helps.

As discussed on the phone...Proxes 4 is the better choice for you. TPT is more of a touring, so you would probably be disappointed in the corners.
