Miata vs. Crossfire?

AC has always been hard to get in Canadian Miatas.  Not sure the current schemes.

I would go for the Miata, but I suppose I'm biased.  Jeff, believe me, you can feel the Miata handling prowess even zipping around the city.  If you were looking for a softer, cruise-oriented car I suppose the Crossfire would be okay.  As an aside, you are looking at a "deal" on the Crossfire vs MSRP on the Miata.  Mazda dealers will happily deal on a Miata right now (or anytime over the last couple of years) as they have not been selling well.  Try running the numbers on a discounted Miata and see how it stacks up.

That's an excellent point, Davidm.  I'm sure as we draw nearer to the autumn the discounts on the current gen Miatas will become even more prevelant, and I'm not surprised that both you and James would choose the handlers over the torque.  :-)

I would take the Crossfire over the Miata only because of the size of it. There will be more room in this car and with the extra size and weight I think a much better riding car as well. I would rather have the more powerful of the 2 engines as well to make this car move along a little quicker. A Hemi would look good under that hood as well. The 425Hp one at that.

Barrie, I don't think Jeff was talking about the Hemi version, that would be a no brainer!

Saffy, I agree for the most part.  I hate using the AC in the car -- very rarely do I do it.  Today, however, with the car's outside thermometer showing 36 degrees, it was a little too warm.  And with a convertible, having the sun bake down on you whilst stuck in traffic couldn't be pleasant.

I LOVE the Crossfire's I've seen. That yellow is great :-)

The MX-5 Miata I've always been a fan of, but of course can't fit into. From what I've read, I wouldn't fare any better in the Crossfire headroom wise.

They're pretty different vehicles. Cruising vs sporting. All else equal, the Crossfire looks to be the steal I'd drive off in.

I saw my first Crossfire in the Big City yesterday, and I was very much less than enthralled by its looks. It looked awkward and over-styled to me. I'll heed your advice Saffi!!

Yeah, but that was by Stevie Ray Vaughn, and look where it got him...

A Chrysler instead of a Helicopter would have done him good...

If I had to replace my V8 Miata, I'd probably buy a 2005 Mustang GT convertible.

A Miata is way too small. I would need to cut a hole in the roof to drive with the top up.
Was in a crossfire coup it was tight, but have not been in a crossfire rag top.
The nice ragtop( under $60gs) that I can fit in are the BMW's.
S2000 seats are narrow,
If the temps is above 15 the top is down, It was 31 out yesterday the top was down , and the wife and me were out crusing in the country side , life is good

A Crossfire would be a good cruising car, if that's what you want, then sure, why not?

As a "car", the Crossfire is a better bet, but the Miata is a better "sportscar"

As for the crossfire VS miata. There are less crossfires on the street and will turn more heads than a miata. So if you want heads turning your direction. Choose the crossfire.
