I have changed oil many times AS. I pull the cork out and wait for the black fluid to drain like most folks do I guess. How am I doing so far? The black stuff (oil?) stops flowing after about 30 seconds and can drip for up to three weeks according to some.( folks on this forum excluded of course) I know a guy who ties a piece of sponge onto a hanger and runs it up inside the pan to get every last drop, just to be sure.

Do I need to get that last few dops of oil out? Not me, as I live life on the edge. I have taken apart a few engines and have yet to see a restrictor plate installed on any of the oil journals or passages. I also think that after about 30 seconds oil at operating temp will find its way into the sump.
Do you have a special car that holds onto its oil in a secret spot, just waiting to drain after getting the one minute signal from the pan?
To nit pick the process of changing oil and the time it takes could go on for hours. You do what you want, I'll do the same. I would think that some readers on this site will appreciate the difference of opinion regarding this matter and see thru some of the finer points.
Now what? ;)
