Accord V6 with NAVI...coming to Canada
« on: June 10, 2005, 02:14:37 pm »
Our dealership just received their first order form for 2006 product. A new model available will be the Accord EX V6 with Bilingual Navigation System. First 2006 product shipped will be the Odyssey in late September, most other models will be here between early October and late November.

And no we don't have pricing yet. Usually NAVI is about a $3000 upgrade though, unless it is packaged with other goodies.

P.S. I have a bet with myself that this thread won't stay on topic beyond, maybe, 15 or 20 posts. Let's see if we can "keep it real"...

I am correcting myself here. Odysseys are supposed to be AT DEALERS in early September, Accords and Pilots in late September, Civics (excluding Si) and CR-Vs in early October, Civic Sis in early December, with other lower volume cars (Element/Hybrids/S2000) coming in November and later.

So the Civics in early october, will they be the new generation Civic?

And, any idea if the CR-V will have changes?

Honda's navigation with voice recognition is one of the best in the industry....good to see how the new technology from the more expensive models slowly trickle down to the cheaper cars and become more accessible to the buying public.  But, these things are extremely distracting....could cause more problems too.  :-)

yes that will be the all new 8th generation 2006 Civic coming in the fall.
CR-V will have minimal changes as they did a mid cycle change in 2005 (16" tires, VSA, side curtain airbags, steering wheel audio controls, and slight cosmetic changes) There willbe a CR-V SE model available though, based on the entry level LX, adding skid plates, roof rack, fog lights, alloy wheels, and side step bars.

Sounds good HSG. I'm really hoping that the next generation CR-V is all that it can really be. Mainly, I'm hoping for cleaner/better console (especially the radio that isn't flush with the console, very ugly IMO), spare tire underneath the cargo floor with swing up trunk door instead of swing out, and why not a diesel engine to go with all that!

Oh, and I really hate how the whole exhaust system is completely visible from the side. There is no excuse for that and plain ugly.

If Honda can fix those things, a CRV will most likely be my next vehicle when it's time. It'll be another 3-4 years before I can start thinking about a new vehicle though... I just got my Jetta! But, can I go into your dealership and start trying out vehicles so that I'm really sure of what I'll want in 2008?

I didn't rate your vote. Apparently someone else on here as a hate on for you today.

We are 16 months away from the next gen CR-V. Don't count on the diesel coming to North America, which is a shame because it is supposed to be one of the cleanest you can get over in Europe.

The spare mounted on the back doesn't seem to hurt the CR-Vs sales and it does make for a huge cargo area. Interior will be revised obviously but since we are less than 4 months away from a brand new Civic and still don't have production photos or official info on IT, we certainly won't have anything on what is up with the CR-V until next summer at the earliest.

For the next CRV, they should change the direction the rear door is opened.  Kind of iffy to walk into traffic in order to load stuff in the back.

That's an excellent point, Roundupready.  I believe other SUV's have the same design flaw.

So no big auto shows between now and the fall, really.

You know of a date Honda has chosen to release new Civic photos?

Besides the 1-2 spyphotos, Honda has done a good job hiding the car considering they're going to start tooling on it.
AQUAMAN64 also posts on BDFD.com!

but in North America you only have to get out the drivers side and the latch is there on the left side, instead of walking around to the right side and opening it from right to left. If we put it on the other side then the Brits and Japanese would be pissy about it so you can't win either way.

the press embargo will likely be lifted 6 weeks before the car is set to land

I was thinking about that after I made that post...we must not forget the countries where they drive on the 'wrong' side of the road.

Sure you can... open it like the Odyssey!

But seriously, if the X-Trail, Tribute, Escape, Tucson and a few others I'm forgetting are able to put the tire underneath the cargo floor, why can't Honda in its CR-V? The VW Golf and Jetta both have a FULL-SIZE spare tire underneath their cargo floor, and they still have better than average cargo room!

Well, we'll no doubt see photos long before 6-weeks-to-launch.

Anyone want to wager on a date? -batts eyelashes-

My Forester had the full-sized spare under the cargo floor - one of the (several) reasons I chose it over the CR-V

Yup, our Scoobies have/had full-size spares, as does the MB.  Pet peeve of mine, makers and their stupid temp spares.
No place I'd rather be...

you may see photos but not from official magazine sites. They have to respect the press embargo if they ever expect to be given cars to test in the future. And Honda is the most secretive of all manufacturers about their product, it was a surprise for their near-production concept cars to be shown this winter at auto shows.(Civic Si Coupe and Euro Civic 5 door).

As far as the interior room on the CR-V, its hatch is bigger than all you listed above due to the exterior spare design. Now if they did put it inside (and remember we are talking about no sooner than fall of 2006) they would eliminate the under floor storage and removable plastic tray, and also necessitate a slightly higher load floor. But they may make the vehicle a couple inches longer to maintain the cubic volume back there, it would just give you a bit more length at the expense of height.

What is weird is that there is already a big hole under the cargo floor. If they'd just make that hole slightly bigger, a tire would fit in there. Not sure if 2001+ CRV are like that though, but my '99 had it!

You are right Shnak there is storage under there, they wouldn't have to make it that much larger to accomodate the full sized spare. I personally would love to see them do so, at the expense of a bit of cargo space I think the design would look better from the outside.

Here we are, the 20th post and we ARE OFF TOPIC...

I knew it!
