"Who knows who" at dealerships
« on: June 10, 2005, 09:21:51 am »
Ghost's response about knowing a Honda & Mazda dealer in the buying a Mazda3 thread got me thinking about whether there are enough of us out there who can recommend a particular dealer or salesperson that we could cover a good part of the marketplace. I don't know about anyone else but I'm a believer in word-of-mouth when car shopping and I'd be willing to shop within a two-hour radius or so in order to deal with someone who was personally recommended to me.

For what it's worth, I could definitely point anyone looking in the London area for a Subaru, Toyota, Benz, VW or Audi in the right direction.

I'd shop within a 2 hour radius as well.  I live in Toronto but got my first Honda in Brampton.  Word of mouth is very important.  I'd recommend the guy in Brampton in a heartbeat.

Just checked with a co-worker who has an '04 Elantra GT and she highly recommended Airport Hyundai here in London. Great price and service from the salesperson (I have the name) and she's very happy with the car.

Saint_satan's father is someone I would recommend buying from.  I purchased my 94 Cherokee from him.  As well, my sister purchased a 98 Cavalier and my grandmother a 1992 Mercury Topaz from the same dealership.

I've never met Saint_satan, and it was a fluke that I learned that his father sold me the Cherokee.  Anyhoo, if you're ever in the great metropolis of Campbellford, pay Regional Auto Sales a visit.

The Mazda dealership I bought from has been taken over by a new owner, and I don't think the salesperson I dealt with is there anymore.  Otherwise, I'd recommend them.  I can come up with places I'd NEVER deal with due to bad sales or service experiences, though!

Would be fun to start a site somewhere with recommendations for dealers across the country. I know I'd be interested in the Ottawa area fo the future. Word of mouth is always important.

For those in the GTA area shopping for a BMW, I recommend Gillian Black @ BMW of Mississauga (east side of  Dixie, South of Eglinton)  No BS, just the facts.  With her, you deal directly with a  decision maker (she's allowed to close the sale with no sales manager involved)

I remember S60 also recommended to me a friend of his Lorenzo Fahoum at BWM Toronto.  According to S60 he is a no BS kind of guy as well.

What about a good Honda dealer in the GTA? :-)
Do you realize that in about 40 years, we'll have thousands of old ladies running around with tattoos?

I'm good for BMW and Mazda in Vancouver.  Ovr, who's your leasing contact?

I've had good prelim dealings (and good personal references) on the www.urbangarage.com guys.

Davidm - Barry McNabb down on about 3rd Ave,south side, across and up the street a bit from Lexus, just off Burrard to the east. Sorry, can't remember the name of the company but I'll dig around for his card and get back to you.
