The fluid you used more then likely meets all of the specs required for your car vehicle. Obviously a seal has gone bad on you and should be covered with warranty if the vehicle still has any left on its time. Red Line is Top Line stuff so you should not have any worries over useing it at all.  :)

Cheers (or is it just cheer?) Barrie.  Your optimism is always an asset.

The tranny is now at Mazda, and the car's going to be flatbedded there this morning.  It's looking like it will be a warranty repair.

I built a new TH400 last year for my truck and used the Castrol brand of syn trans fluid in it. The race shops are raeting it the best at the moment for most of the custom builds like mine.  :)

The Protege 5 takes an SAE 75W-90 oil (GL 4 or 5) according to the owners manual.  From a limited amount of research I've learned the the Redline product is the MT-90.  I phoned NAPA and he said that AMSOIL was the best transmission fluid on the market (no doubt because he doesn't sell redline).

Also, Redline or Amsoil?

Another highly regarded fully synthetic MT fluid is made by Specialty Formulations.

SF also produces syn ATF.
