Me likey.  Cool "bubble" roof line.  Heck, just the fact that it's not another stupid SUV makes it great...
No place I'd rather be...

The "bubble" roof line and the rear quarters give it a 959 look...

Very nice……mid to high $60k’s in Canada I am thinking. If I had the money it would be difficult to pick between a new C6 and the Cayman…..I would go for the C6 and look at the frontal from the rear view.

I'm betting it will be more than 60k snowy, think more like $80k-$90k, they say it starts at $60k USD!

Porsche officially announced new features found on its new Cayman S sports coupe in addition to showing photos of the stylish new two-seater.

The 2006 Cayman S, which gets its name from the caiman crocodile, which is small but known to be very swift and nimble, will be priced between the 911 Carrera and Boxster in Porsche's lineup. It's based on the Boxster but has several distinctive styling features that sets it apart from other Porsches. The body shape itself is aerodynamic, with plenty of curves on the upper windshield sill and rear fenders. Fog lamps are integrated into the front air intakes and there are new-look side air intakes, an automatically extending rear spoiler and dual sport tailpipes. The coupe also has 9.2 cubic feet of rear storage space, which is double the amount found in the Boxster.

The Cayman S is fitted with a 3.4-liter, flat-six cylinder engine that is fitted with the same VarioCam Plus variable valve timing system as found on the 2005 911 Carrera. The Cayman S can go from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds and has a top track speed of 171 mph.

The engine is mated to either a six speed manual transmission (the same used in the Boxster S) or an optional five speed automatic tiptronic.

Other standard equipment found on the vehicle includes 18-inch wheels and tires and the Porsche Stability Management system. The Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system is available as an option. This allows drivers to select from different suspension settings for more comfort or a sportier-feeling drive.

The newest Porsche model will go on sale in Canada in mid-January 2006.

Well, I'd think it would come in just over what the Boxster is.

Doesn't quite make sense, as the 911 coupe is less than a cabriolet, but hey, I'm not Porsche and they probably devised the Cayman name so people wouldn't think of it like a Boxster coupe.

Looks good to me as well. More like an original 911 than the 911 (shape notwithstanding) and slightly more affordable to boot!

It'll probably start in the $75K range.  Think higher than the Boxster S and lower than the base Carrera.

A boxster S goes for as much as $100k canadian. So this will probably be closer to that.

""""""""""""""""Why would they pick a name so phonetically close to the Cayenne? """""""""""""

It's their new naming theme. Next off the line will be a budget sport compact that will be sold only by phone from TV informercials.
It'll be called the Cay-tel.

Yup, MD, I added in the boning factor, I figured they would do that.

That's BASE model though, which you probably can't even buy.

Yeah, Porsche options are ridiculous.

I remember seeing the price of turning the logo on the wheels from chrome and black to Porsche coloured, and it was like $1,000 or something equally silly.

Best value is base or with a selected option or two.

Cayman is more than I thought it would be, that's for sure. Boxster starts at $62,4 and S at $75,6 here. 911 starts at $101,4 though. GT2 is $269,6!!! Carrera GT is $440US but they don't even quote a price for Canada. Base Cayenne at $58 gets you into the brand pretty easily, not that many V6's are sold.
