Wow my truck has a big block now, whoopee as the Good Truck Fairy must have slipped that in for me last night. I can squeeze almost as many ponies out of a small block and have a lot less weight on the front axle as well. I hope he B&B'd it for me as well. Balanced and Blueprinted it as I do like to get at least 500,0000 miles out of it also.

...the power of anonymity. I often notice numerous threads in CD degenerate to this state. So very sad.

This is pretty mild stuff compared to a LOT of sites, car-related and otherwise. If you look, you can probably find flame wars on birdwatching, macrame and ceramics sites.
Anyway, I'm sorry if we got all grumpy in reaction to my gentle little dig at Shnak, who is never reluctant to share his opinion on other people's cars.
Yes, I'm a performance nut. I have 12 cylinders and 6.6 litres of displacement. Of course, they are divided among three cars ...

Barrie, I thought your truck had a big block. Either way, it's obvious that you spent a lot of time upgrading things to make a performance monster out of your truck.

Bullit, all I meant to say is that you statement is false as upwards of 80-85% of the frequent posters here are not "performance nuts". Most people here have regular cars. I know you love your cars, and didn't mean to imply anything else than that. I love my car too and I simply didn't appreciate Sparky's ignorant post about it.

Initial_d, what did I say that you consider to be close to be a personal attack? That Bullit isn't a performance nuts or else he'd have different cars than he has right now? I don't think I'm insulting anyone here...

All of that just because I supported the original poster of this thread regarding the insane amount of torque steer in Nissan's V6 FWD cars... and then came Sparky with his stupid remark. How come he gets multiple 5-stars for stupid posts like that and when I post something similar in humor, I get 1-stars? Oh well... such is life.

That is exactly my point shnak. You don't know me, and you are making judgements about me simply by what they drive.

Actually, performance does play a role in cars for me, but these two cars that I own is the best I can get right now in my current financial situation. Does that mean I should be ridiculed for my choices? No, but hey, it's human nature to do that and unfortunately too many people have this kind of arrogant attitude.

Oh, and I know a few people here who own mazda 6's, Audi's, BMW's, Altima's etc. While these vehicles are not full blown performance vehicles, they can hold their own to satisfy the perfomance needs of most. That's why I said most in this forum.

And initial D was right. I did take that as a personal attack on me. If Sparky's comment was something that you took offense to, or did not agree with, why are you taking it out on me? Actually initial D once said in another thread:

"It is not what you say, but rather how you say it that matters the most. Manage the intent, be careful with the content"

That sums up your original post right there, shnak.

Well, Shnak, I wasn't the least bit offended with your original response to my tiny, inoffensive joke. You were right, your Golf gets enviable mileage. But this last post, where my one-liner gets called "ignorant" once and "stupid" twice, is a bit excessive, IMO. I think you let the other kids get you all upset. It certainly wasn't my intention.

Bullit, I didn't mean to insult you anymore than you didn't mean to insult me with your Prius comment but what was your point in saying that the Prius gets even better mileage than my Jetta TDI, but that still doesn't make the Prius a great car?

What kind of comment is that? Who are you to judge if a Prius is a great car or not? For some, it's the perfect car, for other it's not.

Sparky, whatever.

I simply meant that gas milage isn't the only quality people use to judge a car on, just like performance isn't as you pointed out. You only mentioned gas milage in your original post, and I was simply higlighting that point.

Im through justifying myself, because it doesn't seem like I'm getting through at all.

I'm done with this thread

How typically Canadian - everyone apologizes -

And Sparky is right, this site is pretty tame but then that's 'cause we like it that way - also a Canuck trait.

Know what Shnak, the Prius is a great car!  It's unique in a number of ways, you have to admire the technology in this car.  Toyota is ahead of the game and liscensing the technology to other mfg's.  There has been a few bugs reported, but knowing Toyota they will stand behind it.

"If you think about it, pretty much only Snowman, Railton, Jamesbe, Ovr50, Barrie with his truck with a big block and a few others I'm forgetting about have cars you'd consider to be "performance cars". Everyone else just likes to talk about cars, all aspects of cars, not just their performance."
